I recently traded away my FGTE, along with most other stuff from that era. For me personally it represents the period of disillussionment for
RPGs. Dungeon-based fantasy had been done to death at that point; it was either evolve or join the endless commercialized repetition.
A few like Call of Cthulhu or Paranoia suceeded. Others like FGTE & Bruce Galloway's Fantasy Wargaming tried really hard to progress, but resulted in train wrecks. FGTE is imaginative, but creepy.
edit: I just read your blog review, which mention the anonymous writers were unhappy with the art. In this case they are exonerated much of the creepiness. The art, particularly for the monsters, looks like it was done really, really, really fast.
