I'm looking for some information about Iron Crown Quarterly, which was a newspaper-style publication by ICE from around 1988 through the early 1990s, I think.

Do any of you have that in your collections?

Primarily, I'm trying to find out how many issues there were, what dates they were from, and what their issue numbers are.

Be warned however: They had some fun with the issue numbers, so that's not necessarily a good way to determine how early/late an issue is. You'll need to look for a season and year somewhere on it.

I already have information up through the March 1990 issue, so I'm looking for info from beyond that. (I know there are some issues from beyond that.)

there were 10 single issues and then the last issue which they called 11/12

Do you have any of issues 8, 9, 10, or 11/12 in your collection?

I'd potentially be interested in buying them (any/all, not just 8-12), if available. Otherwise, I'd love to see scans of the title/date/issue areas for historical purposes.

I have 9 of these in my collection. I have tried to research them too from time to time, but see that discussions have come to a dead end on some of the other forums. Mine are:

Vol 1 No. 3 "January / February 1989"
Vol 1 No. 4 "April Fools Day"
Vol 1 No. 5 "Back to School" Fall 1989
Vol II, No. 6    "What-a-Turkey" Issue, Holiday Season, 1989

Vol 12, No. 7, "Ides of March" Issue, March 15 1990
Vol XXVII, No. 8    Summer Beach Issue, June 1990
Vol 1 No. 9 "Extree-Fun Convention Issue", Fall 1990
Vol 1 No. 10    Oktoberfest Issue, Autumn 1990

Vol 1 No. 11    Resolutions Issue, January Something 1991

No. 11, does say "Special Double Issue IQ 11/12 on the back"

Assuming I am missing No.s 1 and 2, this would suggest there are 11 of them

Does any part of issue 11/12 indicate that it's the farewell issue? Maybe something in the note from the editor section?

yes i do have them all in my collection, but no i am not selling. i did not pick up duplicates at the time. by the way there were 15 issues of grey worlds in one incarnation and three issues in the other.

There does not seem to be anything to indicate it was a farewell issue. In fact, there is a boxed ad asking people to subscribe. You'd have to get in touch with someone who was working on it to find out what happened.

Grey Worlds is different from Iron Crown Quarterly.

Did you mean to say Iron Crown Quarterly? That is, do you have evidence that Iron Crown Quarterly had 15 issues.

Cool, thanks for the info.

I spoke with Terry Amthor (editor of the magazine), but he didn't remember very much about it. I may ping some of the other old ICE folks.

I believe he is saying there were 15 Grey Worlds, in its initial release, and then, a 2nd release that had 3 issues -- he is not saying GW is the same as ICQ.

Yeah, I follow that, but since my questions were only about ICQ, I figured he got his wires crossed.

Recalling this discussion, I decided to put the ICQs up on the Acaeum Wiki:

I am missing number one, so if anyone wants to either put it up there or here, I can complete the file.

I will write descriptions for them in due course - mainly to point out the interesting features of each issue. They are mostly filled with product reviews and advertisements (and a lot of jokes), but each has one or two good resources (scenarios, adventures, rule discussions etc) for various ICE games including MERP and Rolemaster.
