I found this shrinkwrapped with a copy of Ironhoof Highlands, to which it definitely doesn't belong. It looks like a dungeon map, with various kinds of doors marked, but it is clearly meant to be cut out and folded into a cube. There is no text except for "1980 Lorello & Woodworth." It is printed on light cardstock.

It's 8.5"x11", so it is almost certainly American. It's not from Dragon or other well-known magazines from 1980 - it might be from some more obscure magazine or from a supplement.

If anyone recognizes it, or has pointers to Lorello or Woodworth, let me know.

I haven't seen it before but it looks a bit more interesting than the run of the mill geomorphs.

Definitely meant to be a cube.  Each square has a doorway at the centre of each side so they mesh nicely.

i didn't see the picture, but lorello & woodworth published an item in 1980 called dungeon map dice. i'm sure the sheet you have is one of the pages from that.

Yeah, that has to be it. Thanks! Are there pictures or any other information on Dungeon Map Dice around anywhere? I searched but couldn't find anything.

If anyone has any more information on Dungeon Map Dice - like how many sheets there were in the set and if they were all different - let me know.

That looks cool.
I'm guessing there were a stack of them and you made them up into cubes and then rolled a random dungeon and placed them side by side to create the dungeon.
Very quirky. It'd be good if we could chase down more info on this product.

Cool!  :D

Grim on the Swords & Wizardry board was working on a similar Rubix-style geomorph a while ago. It's a great idea, although looking at it in terms of a die is sweet.

There was some guy named Arthur Woodworth who submitted some magic items description in 1982 to White Dwarf. Maybe the same guy?

i finally had the time to pull the item off the wall, here it is:
need a map fast...dungeon map dice...just roll one (that's what's on the cover page which is folded half to the front and half to the back. on the back are the instructions for assembling the "dice" . there are four cardstock sheets included. how generous of them....).
