It looks like this is going to happen. The article mentions that Gail will be putting some of Gary's personal items in the auction.

Yes! This changes my whole collecting scheme this year. Will probably hold off on ebay auctions to pool funds for the Gencon Auction.

This year's Gencon Auction has a few rule changes: No one from the Chicago area or from Canada may bid on items. Don't look at me, them's the rules. :twisted:

I wonder if Gail plans to release a list of items that she plans on adding to the auction beforehand? It would be interesting to know if the majority of the items will be gaming related or personal items that had nothing to do with gaming. Handwritten/typed details about D&D or other games will be of significant interest. Who knows, maybe Gary still had copies of the Domesday Book newsletter laying around? If there are items like that still in her possession, it wouldnt surprise me to see a larger number of people in the auction hall this year that normally wouldnt be interested if word gets around.

I'll probably go into the auction with the same mindset as the last two times. Find the one or two things I really want and not worry too much about the rest.

And if there are any articles of clothing (T-Shirts, hats, etc.) included in the auction, I won't be bidding against Bracton. :wink:

Hi,

I suspect that most of these items will go significantly above the average pocket.

And thats a conservative estimate

there will be "big hitters" flying in from everywhere

I think you will more interest throughout the auction. The mere fact that Gary items are on schedule will bring in more people simply because of the curiosity factor.
There will be more traffic in the auction which should drive up bidding in general.
And who can resist watching someone drop a grand on a couple pieces of paper?

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I'd want to know exactly what's in the auction before I got too excited...let me see a list first. If it's just EGG's copy of B1, that's one thing. If it's something of importance....well, well!

This has, as well, changed my entire collectibles strategy for the year. I really hope they drop a list before-hand. I might have a permanent seat in the auction-hall this year

Maybe Frank will get his eyes on the list before the auction like last year.

I agree that if they want the deep pockets to show up and spend they would be wise to say what will be auctioned off well in advance.
