I stumbled across this the other day and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.
However, turn the map of the Expedition to the Barrier Peaks upside down and you'll see EGG which is our dear departed Gygax having a little joke.
Are there any other similar easter eggs in modules that you know about?

Not familiar with this, and don't have the module.
Anyone care to post a picture (upside down would be good)?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

The map depicts level 2 in the module. I have it scanned but I'm not up to the fiddly diddly of posting it on here...

There you go.  It's like the FedEx arrow, once you see it you cannot "unsee" it.

That's really cool, thanks for pointing it out.  I wonder if Gary was aware of it, or DCSIII inserted it as a lark.

Look at the white-space formed by where the 'E' and 'x' join.

More fun easter eggs....

Monster/Treasure assortment: Sets One-three Levels One-Nine:

Jeff Dee's illustration on the back shows Magneto's helmet in the treasure chest.

Bill Willinghams ilustration for the front page of the D1-2 Descent into the Depths contains a treasure chest with Iron Man's Helmet and Captain America's shield..

Both artists have Comic Superhero ties (Dee with the game Villians & Vigilantes, Willingham with independent title The Elementals, DC comics, and some illios for Villains and Vigilantes)

Don't forget, spider-man's face is on the front of that chest. :-)

Howdy All,

How about the Kool-aid Man in G1? The snit and bolotomus in the Monster Manual? Dead Kennedys emblem on the Gamma World GM screen?

Hmm …

B1 -- The monochrome version illustrates the ruined tower on the back.
B1 -- With an odd "c," the monochrome front illustration features the amusing artist sig "dis & dat" (this and that), or more appropriately DC Sutherland and DA Trampier.

D1 -- Shouldn't that be "Descent into the Depths of the Oerth"?  Just a random tangent.

D3 -- The cover of the monochrome version (drow priestess sacrificing male) becomes more ironic after you take another glimpse of Eldritch Wizardry.

G1-2-3 -- The names of the tournament characters have a lot of Gygaxian puns in them, for anyone who feels like digging up the thread.

S2 -- The back illo of "Elric" with Blackrazor is part of a larger piece featuring a naked woman.
S2 -- The wights in the interior illustration have clown hair, which led our old group into the contagious "Let's get them bozos!  Honk honk" battle cry you might still hear at random in Colorado campaigns.  ;)

T1 -- I believe the Ruined Moathouse is directly inspired by the castle in the Siege of Bodenburg.

X1 blue cover -- The terrain in the pic actually shows the sides of hexes, with a mountain on one straight border and a jungle on the other.  Not sure if it's intentional but I used to be able to locate the depicted hex on the map.

Lots more but that's all I've got for now.
