Briefly, here's the scoop: I've just confirmed that Fantasy Flight Games will have some copies of Game X at GenCon. I will die if I don't get my hands on this game ASAP — that's right, literally die!  

So what I'm looking to do is to recruit a lackey ... um, "very good friend" ... to stop by FFG's booth as early as possible during the con (Thursday would not be too early; this baby is going to sell out). I will have already PayPal'd this individual funds enough to cover the purchase price, Priority Mail shipping (likely to be a fair amount of coin), and a little somethin'-somethin' for their time and effort. In return, I'd ask this individual to buy the game as early as possible, then hold onto it and mail it when they return home on Monday or Tuesday.

I don't know an exact size or weight, but I can take a reasonable guess: probably something heavier than Runebound, but lighter than Arkham Horror. Maybe about the same size as last year's re-release of Cosmic Encounter.

If this sounds do-able to any GenCon attendees, please add to this thread or hit me with a PM. If not, then no biggie: I'll just die, is all.

However, I confirmed with an FFG person earlier today that it looks like FFG might be bringing "more than usual" of their new releases this year. (Which only makes sense, if history shows they usually sell every copy of what they bring). If such turns out to be the case, then maybe it won't be as bad as the horror stories from years past.

BTW, I am offering a finder's fee, if this works out (as mentioned in the original post). I was thinking $20, above and beyond all other costs, sounded fair.

But I've decided not to die if it doesn't happen ... I just remembered that I'll be seeing the game up on eBay before the convention is even over.

While FFG has not confirmed publicly that it will be at GenCon, I've confirmed it through other channels (barring disaster; anything can happen, I suppose). It's getting pretty good buzz, and I do suspect they can sell however many copies they bring.
