OK, I think I got this to work. The link will take you to the prelimiary cover - and I mean preliminary. The company logo is not the final version, just a drop in.
Also, don't bother going to the website for the PGS, I don't have it ready yet.

Let me know what you think.

Aw! I though I was getting the whole thing there.

Okay. Honestly....

I'd change the letter reference away from BX1. Just because BX1 is quite common, and associated with other things. What about BB1 or PG1?
I like the colour.
I like the piccie.
I actually like the 'Thing' typeface. It's different, but I understand if it was just a sketch and is gonna be something else.
I don't like the 'P' logo. Overly fussy, and incongruous with the 1E feel of the product. I'd try something monochrome and simple without the faux shading. Maybe use PGS. How about PGS skewered on a blade, as the horizontals on the P and G in a number of fonts would continue visual on the eye.

May I be the first to say great work getting this far. Just fantastic!

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I have a real logo, but not uploaded to computer yet. That P is just a quickie for spacial arrangement.

I agree with most everything here.
Change the letter reference.
The picture is pretty cool.  Creepy...but cool.  :D
The title font is nice in a Cthulhu-ish sort of way.
The yellow is a bit harsh on the eyes.  But as you said it is preliminary.

Looking forward to it Bill.

I like the main image (really digging the background detail) but I would look into darkening the more prominent lines (they wash out when presented in a digital format).  A little tweaking inside of Photoshop should make it "pop" away from the page and give it a bit more life.

The BX thing I'm not to sure about.  Using something similar to the old module alphanumeric system is a nice throwback but it might confuse people as to which module is being referenced (i.e. is that a typo, did you mean Isle of Dread, In search of the Unknown, or something entirely different?).

The module level range is 3-5 which means you can use it with he basic set or Expert set or Rules Cyc.
I am very undetermined regarding the BX thing. I need to settle on something...Always looking for a good idea out there....

One question.  Why Pacesetter GS?  A tribute to old company?

That yellow is ghastly, but in a weird sort of good.

BX1 was the designation for the unreleased TSR Islandia module. There may well be a published TSR mod under that designation, but not collecting TSR, I'm not sure. There is also a Dragonsfoot mod with the same designation out there somewhere, and also maybe a download on Lulu from someone else. So it's been used to death and marks it either as 'something I may have bought before' if it's gonna be offered on a site for download, or 'just another homebrew mod named BX1'. An alternative designation would stand the module apart, as both the typeface and colour do already.
Maybe think to possible future developements and/or where this may sit in a small selection of modules, and label it accordingly (like CH-2 Seren Ironhand). It may give it and you more reason to go further after the first mod. Better than  following it up with a B1 and an X1 to create the spread across the levels, eh?

You could keep the yellow, but change the tone a little. Go for the 'golden rod' yellow from the yellow bordered DCC#12.5 for example. But a predominantly yellow cover I think is refreshing to see.

I'm sure you'll check it, but there's a few missing commas and an extra 'the' in the text.  :D
So, Mars. Who are/were Pacesetter?

Or BA1 for Bill at the Acaeum?

If it's for print, I'd recommend laying it out such that the yellow extends all the way to the edges. Don't assume the printer will trim exactly to the extent of the bleed. (And if it's for print and you *haven't* added a bleed, make sure you do! Talk to the printer about their bleed expectation.)

I agree that the yellow is a little too bright.

I don't like "Thing" in the title. It's a nothing word. Use something that's more evocative, yet equally mysterious: Beast, Lurker, Horror, Terror, etc.

Make sure you mark WotC's trademarks (the references to various Dungeons & Dragons systems) with an appropriate trademark symbol, and add an appropriate trademark disclaimer on the cover.

If you feel comfortable referring to WotC's trademarks in the lower paragraphs, why be ambiguous/subtle in the diagonal stripe? Why not have the diagonal stripe actually refer to D&D? "For Dungeons & Dragons (tm) Expert Set" or "Dungeons & Dragons (tm) Expert Game Adventure"

Pacesetter was a medium sized company back in the 80s that did a bunch of RPGs based on a percentile system: Star Ace, Timemaster, Sandman, Chill, and that other one.  Star Ace, Chill, and Timemaster had a bunch of adventures (7 or 8 or so each).  Carl Smith of Adversary Games, TSR, etc also did stuff for Pacesetter.  For whatever reason the company ended and Mayfair bought Chill and republished a new edition and some more items.  Another company bought the rest and still sells their stuff although I think they may have sold off Star Ace.

Guy,
The scan was from a printer then to PDF so that is why you don't see the bleed. It is a full bleed. I should have made note about that.

I will be putting all the legal stuff in as the final draft appears.

Ash - I like BA1...

All so far - I am iffy on the yellow. I wanted to something a little different but not too crazy. I am gonna try some variations of that color - I think a little softening without going soft...

For the color, try something as rich/deep as web color CC9900. It should look pretty good with black text, as well as the black-bordered white areas. Don't sweat the color too much right now though; you'll probably have to make color tweaks once you get proofs back from the printer.

And I just noticed: Boba Fett's helmet is in the picture!
