Does anyone know where the thread with the collectors photos with the TSR, Inc. trade sign are?  I am pretty sure I saw it in the last few weeks here?  Thanks for any links or assistance.

Hmm,  it dawned on me... and research appears to confirm that TSR, Inc. was not used until 1983... so this sign was not there... "WHEN IT ALL STARTED!" I am also a bit concerned that there is conspicuous weathering to the paint that appears to go under the TSR, Inc. letters.  This would seem to indicate that the letters are not as old as the sign/paint.

If anyone has additional observations, etc., please chime in.  I certainly intend to pay for this thing if it is genuine.  But.... if it ain't...  which I am suspecting... then perhaps my quick trigger and posting will save someone else here some money/hastle.

It looks to be the exact same sign as this one.  Maybe Mike will pop over and let us know what is going on?

The sign was auctioned by laserguy213, who according to the listing bought it for $1000.  Both laserguy and hdragonsna are in FL, as is invincibleoverlord (at least as of his last update here).

Definitely a cool sign if legitimate.

I was thinking maybe he sold the sign to somebody local, who is in turn auctioning it off.

Edit:  Though if he told Pipswich that he got it from Lake Geneva, that blows up that theory.

I was actually thinking the opposite and that he might have sold off a large chunk of extra stuff to someone local or made an arrangement to resell for him.

I can't tell you how many times it crossed my mind on how to get the old TSR sign down off the posts every time I was heading to Gary's house while driving on HWY 120 just outside of town on Thursday nights. It would have been just too obvious climbing up there and taking it off! Alas, the signs are long gone now. They took them down a couple of years ago.  

I am not getting reasonable answers from the guy and a very fierce push to pay up or shut up from him.  His user id contact info says first name is ZANE.  That is not the name of any of the three people who are identified in IO's thread as owners of the collection where this sign appeared to be in 2005.  Worse, this guy clearly didn't buy the sign on ebay in 2005 from Lake Geneva if it was in Florida with IO.  Although, I don't intend to accuse the guy of anything, I am starting to question his right to sell it.  If no one has heard form IO in a year, this may be an estate fiasco.  I will likely take a buy on it, as his description is incorrect, the lettering appears added after the fact, and he will not clarify how he got the sign.  

He insists other people want to buy it.  Buyer beware here, no doubt.

This is my response to his last threat that I either pay up or he would sell it to someone else.

"Dude, you need to calm down and follow ebay policy.  But, to the point.  The collection where this sign was four years ago is well known and your story about where you got it doesn't make sense.  There are three major issues to resolve that ebay will support me on.  First, you do not indicate that you purchased this from the last owner of record.  Is it stolen property?  Second, you misrepresented the date of the sign in your listing.  TSR, Inc. dates to 1983 and this sign was not there when it all started.  Third, the lettering is sitting on top of clear paint loss indicating the letters were applied long after the sign was weathered.  These are legitimate concerns and it is your responsibility to demonstrate that your listing is correct, not mine to trust a stranger with $1000 when they are not forthcoming with straight answers.  I have hit the buy it now perfectly prepared to pay the price for the item you advertised, not for a fake or a stolen sign."
