Thanks to a member here (BC) I know how to block specific named bidders.

How do you block ALL bidders with say 10 or fewer feedbacks in total?

I fear I am about to be screwed by one or perhaps two sperate bidders with 3 and 1 feedbacks over the past year.....

not sure how to block but I put in my auctions the if you have, 10 or fewer or substantial negative feedback... that you need to contact me before bidding.

Yes, I had done that before too, and forgot to add such a note in my current rash of listings.
(Other than in the White Bear and Red Moon)
Now it is too late for that note as both have already bid.

The lower of the 2 will likely still go much higher so I wouldn't worry to much about that one. The higher of them, who knows how that one will end up (although it is in beautiful condition compared to most of those that show up on ebay).
It'd be messy but you could probably ignore the low feedback bid. Just in case you might want to revise your description with that information if you plan on doing it (a little CYA goes a long way).

Yeah, if I did not need the money for something else, then none of that stuff would even be listed.

One of them has been an E-Bay member for over TWO (2) years with ONE (1) feedback!
The other has just THREE (3) feedbacks in SIX (6) freaking years!

Those accounts BOTH smell like hell to me.

That said, I cannot afford to get screwed over by some asshat, but then, there are few of us can afford that.
Could be they are both totally innocent, but they are looking scary to me as an infrequent seller.
They could even be folks who simply wish to remain annonymous for some reason.

If one or both of them are members here, then PLEASE PM me regarding who you are, and your reason for using that account to bid.

I just added something very like the comment above to all of my listings.
I also discovered that I had no description at all on the Boot Hill listing....

Don't know how I did that.......

Fixed it though, just glad no one had bid yet.

You can't. Ebay only allows you to automatically block users with a feedback score of -1 -2 or -3. Yes, real useful feature.

If you are concerned about specific people, you can block them by adding their name to the block list. Then cancel their bids.

Should I be concerned about someone?
If so then WHO?

I think you may be able to cancel their bids now and then add them to your blocked bidders tostop them coming back, although I don't know for sure if this is possible..

But do I want to?
As I said, there may be some logical reason for bidding under a long term low feedback ID.

Is there a way to find out what OTHER IDs that E-Bay Member has?

I'm guessing you will know the other bids and see what the next highest is. If its not that much, it may be worth ditching the low feedbacks just for peace of mind.

However, I'm sure bclarkie will have a way of finding other IDs and checking things out...

It probably should concern you somewhat. Hopefully someone with better feedback will bid. You can't really find out their names until they win and even then you can't find out if they have other IDs. Finding alternative IDs is basically just a process of identifying similar characterists between two bidders, etc. Usually easy to spot for a seller because they will list a similar auction style (background, spelling, common mistakes, etc).

If you're really that concerned, just cancel their bids:

Then block them forever so you don't have to do it all over again:

Also, there's no way any buyer can "screw" you; I'm not even really sure what that means. If they pay up, great. If they don't, you file a non-paying report, wait a few days, and get all of your listing fees back. The only thing that costs you is some time and annoyance.

Unless you're worried about some form of chargeback? But if that's the case, then you really shouldn't be on eBay at all. At some point, there has to be some trust in the process; otherwise, you'll just drive yourself crazy worrying about every little possible thing that could go wrong. If you can't just list something on eBay and let it run its course without any interference, then I'd recommend private sales instead.

Final thought: people use eBay differently. Not everyone in the world is a power-user or a hard-core collector. People come and go, they forget their passwords, they go off and do other things with their lives. Whatever. Infrequent use of the site isn't necessarily cause for raising a red flag.

But if you don't like the cut of their jib, then just skip the drama and cancel their asses. Problem solved.

You could also just pull the auction down, sacrifice the list fees, and re-post with those particular bidders blocked. Just change something about the auction, like adding "may or may not be new, minty, fresh, or complete."

To make a point.

One of the low feedback bidders wrote me back and gave a plausible explanation for the low rating.
I am allowing that person the continue bidding and would also allow that person to bid on other things if he wants to.

Ending a listing out of worry about one bidder seems drastic, especially if you dont know the reasons for the low feedback.

But, The other guy has not written back and so will probably be rejected and banned.

I was mostly concerned over the possibility that a low bidder might try to rip me off by reversing the Paypal after getting the item.
That can be fixed with a delivery confirmation, which is going to happen no matter who buys those items.

I am not that concerned over a negative feedback either, if for some reason a bidder just wants to get nasty for some reason.....
Some folks just have to be asshats.
Nothing you can do about that.

So I recon this thread was a big watse of your time folks.

I will try to avoid asking for help from now on, since it seems to annoy some folks so much....... :roll:
