Is it generally a bad idea to list stuff on Ebay ending next Sunday, because of Memorial Day?

Hmm, that is a good point. A lot of people won't be home to bid on the items at the last day, so you may lose out on potential bids if you list them ending on Sunday.

Probably also a good time to get deals on stuff that is ending Sunday if you are home and have computer access.

I dont auction items off much anymore.

I found that listings ending on a weekend were a two edged sword. More buyers viewing, more people selling, so items for sale get lost in the crowd and common items face severe competition.

I would say that not only would you face a great deal of competition as it is a weekend you will also see a somewhat reduced group of buyers.

If you are going to list on the weekend make sure your auction lot stands out. It is a good time to list unique or rare items as well as larger auction lots.

If you are looking for USA sales consider the time of the auction. Best time is to catch people after dinner and before they go to sleep. If you list an auction at 10pm to 12pm eastern standard time you are pretty much in prime time across the USA. Late enough even on the west coast and early enough on the east.

I think it's fine as long as you take JasonZavoda's advice to sell late in the day Eastern Standard Time. The weather, the time of day, and the TV schedule interestingly are probably the three biggest regular factors having to do with eBay traffic. Do not sell during American Idol. :roll:

Was going to spend part of my day listing some more stuff.
Did not even realise that next weekend was Labor Day Weekend.

Now I wont even bother.

I don't really have m/any common items. Mostly unique stuff... Gonna try classifieds here and elsewhere first. Thanks for the tips though!

That's the best bet for rares. Just like you're doing. Can't afford to out in an offer on the ToEE interiors, but a real nice pair there. Any manuscropts in your collection?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

At worst, you get a feel for the marketplace and have the images and text ready to go onto eBay a couple of weeks further down the line and a number of potential customers will have been primed for potential expenditure as a result.

Not a reseller here, but I'd avoid any holiday weekends like the plague as a matter of course if selling.

If you know you're selling, even if the audience between all the "usual" sites cannot compete with eBay, it still costs nothing to circulate a list with links to the pics and "offers invited around"/"guideline" style prices against each if it's clear that can flex either way depending on demand and/or multiple purchases.

This is logical, thanks! I plan on selling quite a bit. I'll list stuff here and then move on to Ebay.

Any manuscropts in your collection?

I have none. I have quite a few interiors and some paintings. Maybe a shitload of interiors depending who you ask :wink:

If you are going to list on Ebay, you might want to try some fixed price auctions where you have set the prices - they only cost 35 cents to list for 30 days.

But the final value fees are a little bit higher.

Generally avoid holidays. Also, plan on your auction ending between 9-11 p.m. EST. Ending auctions on Saturday or Sunday night is also generally a good option. You will see more "views" over the weekend.

All that said, Thursday night seems to do fairly well. Tuesday night closings suck the most - worse than Monday. Friday varies wildly.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!
