Scanning & printing a personal print - legality?

As most of you probably know from seeing my Classified post, I have an ambitious project I want to do involving scanning a 1st ed MM, cleaning it up and removing the words in photoshop, then printing it onto 2'x3' canvas to hang in my living room. Does anyone think there would be any legal issues in doing so? I figure as long as it is just for myself, there shouldn't be. But I don't know jack about copyright, so I hoped maybe someone here would know. (I have a legal version of photoshop, and access to a large canvas printer)

As long as you are just planning on using it for personal usage, I don't think you would/will have any issues doing so.

FWIW, there is a cleaned up copy of the MM on the site already here:

If either of those might help you in your endeavor. Also Kevin Mayle(the poster in the second thread) may also have something even better significantly cleaned up as well, so shooting him a PM might be worthwhile.

Perfectly legal here in the UK. You could even sell them if you wanted to.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Wow! I had no idea this had been done. :-)

Those images aren't anywhere near the resolution I'd need though. That first link is 75Kb, where as I'm looking for 50+ Mb. I wonder if anyone has a high-res pic of it already...
