E-Bay log on problems

I have tried several times to get onto E-Bay to pay for a couple of auction wins.

I keep getting sent to this page...

Notice the horrid grammar in the bolded lines below.

This crap worries me, yet I must pay for those auction wins.

Due to recent update of eBay User Agreement all our customers required Confirm Identity by validation of Credit or Debit Card.
There is no charges will be placed on card.
Cardholder info will be used only for One-Time Identity Verification and not be stored.

First off, none of this makes any sense in the first place.

Also; In addition to that silly note above that log in page is asking for ALL of my Credit Card info....

...including my PIN number, which I have NEVER had to provide before.

EVER........ TO ANYONE.........

Are any of you also seeing this while logging into your E-Bay account, or do I have a Hacker/SpyBot trying to rip off my credit card info through my computer?

I am not having any problems logging on to Ebay. It looks like you are using a bookmark that goes to an invalid page. Try typing in www.ebay.com and see if that works. If it doesnt, clear your browser cache (delete temporary internet files, cookies, etc) and go directly to www.ebay.com again and see if you can login.

Yes that's a hacker/spybot scam. Just pull up the address without using any bookmarks or links.

Are you logging into my ebay?

Try going directly to site then pick and item and select to watch list. It should ask you to log on...kind of a back door way to get on.

If that does not work try to bid on something. Same method.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

This is a scam. I would immediately do a virus scan. Ebay does not ask for credit card information (or use broken english) just to log in.

Aneoth, you have a rather common sort of virus/trojan/whatever. It hijacks your links and does that type of stuff to them. You need to download AdAware. www.lavasoft.com. That's what I use and it does the trick almost every time. You WILL get screwed if you do ANYTHING it says (the fake link I mean) Get AdAware, install, update, and let it run. Then, you should be OK accessing eBay.

And one more time people, NEVER EVER EVER give out your CC information, PIN, all that crap. Just don't do it, unless you are 100% certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are supposed to. If you are even a TINY bit unsure, don't. It's just safer.

Yep, some sort of anti-malware application (AdAware or Spybot Search and Destroy) would help a lot. Might want to install and then reboot in Safe Mode with Networking to update it before running the search. Also, probably a good idea to kill System Restore since it might rebuild you to infected status at reboot.

If you have already gone to that page AND already LOGGED in with your id/password... you need to get somewhere and change your password immediately... as the hacker software has already captured your id/password at that point....

My computer may be screwed.....
I am on a different computer now and was able to change my E-Bay data.
I plan to change every password I can think of in the next few days.

Thank goodness I do NOT do any Banking on that computer, nor do I keep any sensitive personal info there either, and other than that ONE CC, no other personal or credit information can be had from that computer.
I may have to cut that card up and cancel it though....

At the moment it seems that my own computer wont even do the virus scan using SpywareDoctor.... At 1% scan after well over 2 hours and 2 reboots.

Unfortunately (Before reading all the good advise above NOT to do so) I re-booted it (Twice) as the computer kept locking up on me. :oops:

Dont know how to do the things you are suggesting...

But they sound like great ideas.
I fear I am too late to save my most current data though.

Glad I backed all my important files up a few weeks ago to a non-connected hard drive.

Well, to go into Safe Mode with Networking, once you power it off, and before Windows loads on the restart (basically, as soon as you see the monitor light up) tap the F8 key, and keep tapping it -- it will bring up a list of boot options, one of which is Safe Mode with Networking. From there, you will have internet access but a bunch of other things won't be running, so you can get the needed software in relative security (not perfect, but better than going into "Normal Mode.")

Turning off System Restore is a little more complex, and depends on what version of Windows you have installed. However: http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestore.shtml will help quite a bit with it.
