Gen Con just inked a contract keeping it in Indy til 2015.  Here's the article.

Excellent.

Indy is a fantastic site.

(And they managed an article that doesn't paint attendees as freaks - unlike 1-2 I remember in Milwaukee...)

27 million dollars is a good chunk of downtown cash that gets dropped straight into the laps of the hotels (and their crazy parking prices) and restraunts.  This will be my second one and I'm glad they've decided to keep it close to home (3 hour drive to the ICC from home).

At least I will know where it is, even if I won't be able to go.

Here is a somewhat related question:  Did anyone ever find out for sure who was behind the attempted hostile takeover of GenCon last year?

I know that several people(including myself) speculated that it was Troll & Toad behind a dummy corporation, but did any other info ever come out about it?

Wow what a read...    8O

Congrats to the current Gencon staff for surviving Chapter 11 experience. Although reading through all the bankruptcy paperwork, it seemed like they were going to come out of it successfully (writing off Gencon So-Cal, lowered expenses, creditors willing to be paid off over a number of years, etc.).

Lawl! Well said ... applies to me, too. I wonder if I'll ever see the inside of a large convention again?
