Anyone using ebay, it is probably a good idea to change your password. Some scam is going through that is phishing for passwords and account info. I was locked out of my own account this moring and had to reset by phone.

That didn't stop you from scoring on that Freeport lot from Green Ronin.

I was on the phone at 6 A.M pacific getting them to fix things. (Only took an hour on the phone

)

I also picked up the lot of Kalamar stuff, which is probably cheap and common, but I like the campaign.

Was it d20 Kalamar or the ultra-nifty pre-d20 stuff?

It was just the d20 stuff but it worked out to around $2.50 a book for 7 books. Kalamar was best when it was a generic setting.

Did you respond to an "ebay-looking" email or were you somehow redirected to a fake site where you used your login?

I almost got caught by a dispute email, supposedly from ebay, but I thought I avoided that particular trap, and that was a week or so ago. Not sure what it could have been, even ebay messing with their system. It was nasty surprise this morning.

Yes. I got a similar message yesterday. It was quite a clever phishing mail. It looked identical to an Ebay message notification and most of the links on the page were actually real Ebay ones. But if you looked at the 'reply to' message link, it was a different site. I did not click and forwarded it to Ebay, but I would guess you get directed to page that looks identical to your Ebay login page and once you log in they've got you.

The message threatened action due to goods not sent. I bet it caught a lot of people out, as anyone's first reaction is to look at the message.

Something is going on. I just got hit with another alert and had to change my password again, only this time there was no possibility of someone getting the new password from this morning. I think it is a glitch in the new software ebay is trying out. For one thing when I tried to use the secure log in with the secret question crap it kept sending me into a loop back to the same page. The other thing is that the help page linked from the login page changed this morning and they removed the secure login link from it.

if you're at ebay.com and you do not see it as secure... don't log in. Leave the site, and check the most common problems for inability to connect to a SSL site:

1) ensure your computer clock is set to the right time

2) if you're using IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Clear SSL State

3) Delete your cookies and browser cache

4) Click Tools>Internet Options>Advanced -- find Use SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 -- make sure you're using 3.0 at minimum

5) check to see if you can connect to any other secure site (like a bank)

That kind of thing.

But, I'd never, ever, log into a site that is supposed to be secure and isn't showing the double lock like its supposed to.
