All this talk of FLGS made me think we could use a list of "good" ones...y'know, for the travelling Acaeumite. I'll start us off.

While I don't have any in my immediate area, I'd like to re-mention Game Parlor of Chantilly, VA. Active gaming area in the back, lots of games of all sorts, and the sort of place you might just find something. Staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable.

Gator Games of Belmont, CA (San Francisco's Bay Area).

Surprisingly good on some older items. No true rares, but a chance to fill in gaps, especially in certain systems.

Pegasus Loft in Wichita Falls, TX. No comics. Nothing rare, some older TSR. Nothing special but a gaming space and a good attitude. And Free RPG Day.

Generation X in Arlington, TX. Also has used RPGs. Mike can expound upon its attributes. Another Free RPG Day participant.

Generation X is actually in EULESS, not Arlington, but yeh it's a good. If you come to the DFW area avoid the local chain store, Lone Star Comics. Just so generic, middle of the road, and lightly stocked with only the 10 or so most popular gaming items.

If your even in central Pennsylvania (heaven forbid), Check out Gatehouse Games in Hollidaysburg/Duncansville (near Altoona). Since I dont play anymore, Ive not been in his store for ages, but some of my gaming friends always have good things to say about the place.

FLGS - chance would be a fine thing.

Realistically games stores as I knew them are a distant memory.

London's the nearest to me for games stores and in my experience OOP stuff just doesn't happen - anything pre 3E D&D has been cleared long ago.

Very sad!

Too true!

Travelling Man used to hold good OOP stock, but a few years ago they had a fall-out with their main buyer, and never replaced him.

I don't know of any good 2nd-hand stores in the UK.

there are a couple in manchester about 5 mins walk from piccadilly station, but what they do have, they cost a LOT....nothing particularly what i would call rare though. maybe worth a mooch around, but thats all.

i even laughed at one of the shop assistants, when i pointed out the mullered copy of Q1 on the shelf being sold for a paltry £40. his answer? "well its rare" lol .... oooooooooook

Here in Orlando it's always fun to have a look around Sci-Fi City. It's pretty far from the tourist sector, I'd say about a 30 minute drive during off-peak traffic hours. (Assuming you drive like most of the locals here do - zipping along with a casual disregard for life and limb).
