It looks like I might be slowly gearing up for a pre-move eBay sale(s), so I've begun to examine some of these eBay changes more closely than I have in the past few months.

Not counting the new search weirdness (which I'm pretty sure I've been encountering when I've searched for items as a buyer), I'd say it's this new feedback deal that really jumps out at me. All of my numbers have changed, it looks like ... and they all went up! I wish I could be really, really proud of that, but there's the one small fact that I haven't sold a single item in months that keeps getting in the way of me thinking that I'm the Greatest Seller Ever.

So, anyway, I'm curious as to how everyone else fared? Did your numbers go up, down, or seem to stay the same? I've read some anecdotal accounts on the interwebs from some sellers who were totally startled to see their numbers go down from one day to the next, and I'm relieved I seem to have missed that party.

I'm not sure what I did, eBay ... but thanks, I guess. If it helps bring another couple of dollars into my pocketses, I'm all for it.

Mine went up slightly. What had happened, at least as far as I have read, is that repeat customers now count for feedback, as long as the items they purchased (and feedback left for) were more than 1 week apart. So, when I sell 20 items to Degassy in a week, I get 1 feedback total. When he buys 80 items spaced out over 4 weeks (oh he totally did) I get 4 feedback. Yay, I suppose. All in all, it didn't impact me much at all.

So far the added feedback stuff (not being able to leave negs or neutrals) hasn't affected me yet, but snce I only have a handful of idiots a year it's hard to say if this might come into play. And yeh my feedback shot up over 10,000 due to the "backdating" of feedback, which was cool. So anyway nothing much different right now, if you are a ethical and honest seller you are probably not going to be too affected by this. It's the Coug's of the world who are living their worst nightmares every single day as they are kneed in the nads every lousy deal they make.

For me, the fee hikes were the main problem - added to eBay's blatant dishonesty with DSRs. I'm your basic anti-corporate malcontent at the best of times but eBay takes the cake.

I got around a +20% bump in my +ve feedback total after the changes. All it did was serve to remind me how much money I must have spent over the last year. Don't even go there!

Some numbers shot up considerably and some went down. My number of feedbacks number rose from about 1500 to over 2000(I have lots of repeat buyers), but my quality dropped from 99.9% to 99.6%. Some of that may be because I recently received a neutral rating from someone(A package I mailed to Europe took too long even though I mailed it the day after payment :roll:

). Anyway, my DSR's stayed the same(about 4.7).

These changes don't worry me as much as not being able to give negative feedback, although I find some joy in knowing Coug can't retaliate with feedback.

I think my feedback jumped about 150 points although I am mainly a buyer so it probably doesn't mean much.

Yeah, it just seems like such a crapshoot to me. My percentage rose from 99.3 to 100, which is nice and all that ... but I didn't do anything to really deserve it! I wasn't even active on the site.

Oh and I had ONE neg from like 2003 that was erased too.
So I went from like 99.7 to 100%

The retroactive feedback appliance had zero impact on me, I think. I might have gained one or two feedback, if they allow them to be recorded for buying from the same seller, but I have such a relatively low number (I have 72 feedback) that it doesn't really matter... and, I've only sold one thing, so it would be very weird if it improved beyond that.

Back on topic: setting the numbers and percentages aside for a moment, has anyone here been burned by the new "positive-only" rule for buyer feedback? Like shipping something out the next day, then getting a negative for "slow shipping" or something like that?

The bad thing is, the package WAS really late. I mean, it took a month to arrive and that's just horrible. But again, it wasn't my fault. I'm not too worried about it. At least he didn't neg me. Wait a minute...if I had been negged, couldn't I have had it removed if I can show that I shipped it in a timely manner(which I can since it was sent registered). :?:

eBay has a very narrow list of reasons that qualify for feedback removal. Here's the link:

Buyers often mark me down for late delivery, and high postage charges. But as I mentioned earlier, this is because they don't take into account that I am posting from Spain to Uk, not Uk itself. In reality my charges are subsidised by myself, and it gets posted next day. The problem with buyers not giving fair feedback is that it can actually stop sellers from trading if it falls below eBay's requirement. It's totally unfair, and flawed.
