Maybe I'm just missing it, but is there a TSR Catalog section anywhere on the Acaeum?

I was wondering because I popped open a box of my stored games, opened up a long-unused copy of Warlocks & Warriors, and discovered therein a copy of the demon-faced door "Gateway to Adventure" catalog!

Once I get a good look-through to dredge up the nostalgia, I'll be putting it in a place of honor amidst my other catalogs and such (classic brown Gateway catalog, Morley TSR catalog, sage Grenadier catalog, and the TSR Company Profile from Toy & Hobby World signed by Gary).

But I'm curious where it fits in with all the other TSR and Dungeon Hobby Shop catalogs. There's a section on catalogs in the JG subweb; maybe we can put together a TSR catalog section on the main site?

Anyone?

This is a long ignored topic. I have saved various catalogs from time to time and for whatever reason I have never compiled a good list. Maybe it is time...

I just bumped a thread I started a while back with some info on Catalogs & Advertisements. It's pretty disorganized, but on the first page I list some of the Gateway Catalogs and their later equivalents. Anyone can feel free to use any of the information or scans in making a subweb.

I own only a few of the catalog covers I posted (scans were mostly from auctions). As far as I know, Mars has the most complete collection of catalogs of any of the regular posters here.

Mars I think has a damn impressive collection of catalogs.  As for the Gateway catalogs, there is two different ones iirc.

Does anyone have a site that refrences all the toys or ads about them? I did come across this one.

Yes, I have a large selection of catalogs - still missing a few though.  For most years there are a Dungeon Hobby Shop catalog (later Mail Order Hobby Shop) and a TSR catalog (sometimes both a TSR book catalog and games catalog).  There are also different catalogs for the UK and possibly other countries too.  TSR also released retailer press kits but those are difficult to find.

For the Gateway to Adventure catalog I think there are actually 4 different versions.  The most common is the brown covered one.  There is an earlier one with a demon on the door (wizard logo) and a later one with the goofy wizard character they used in the early 80s (face logo).  There is also the elusive black covered one that I have only seen for auction a couple of times.

I really should get around to adding these to the Tome sometime.
