Visitation is on Saturday, March 8 at 11 AM at:

Haase Derrick Lockwood Funeral Home
800 Park Drive
Lake Geneva, WI 53147
(282) 248-2031

A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM, also at the Haase Derrick Lockwood Funeral Home.

In the evening, there will be an informal gathering to remember Gary with food and beverage. Time and location to be determined.

More details as we figure them out.

A bunch of wankers that shows up at various funerals throughout the USA to proclaim their "good word". :puker:

Allan, is the family doing any sort of "in lieu of flowers" -type thing? I would guess they might, unless they want the funeral home to look like that overgrown deck in the Barrier Peaks module.

Along those same lines, did Gary have any favorite charities or service organizations? I'm sure a lot of us would be happy to send a few dollars their way rather than send the 7,000th arrangement of flowers to the service.

If it came from KR, you can trust it. He was Gary's collaborator on a number of projects, and in my understanding is helping Gail and the family with arrangements.

His preferred charity is Christian Children's Fund. And, there has been a request for a gathering of Gygax pictures for the memorial Saturday. Please, if you have some pictures of Gary, let's get them collected for posterity and memory.

I haven't heard from the Trolls or Paul or anyone else with any details on the family's preferred charity donations in lieu of flowers yet. The Trolls are en route to LG this morning, so perhaps they'll be able to provide some info by this evening. I did ping Steve about it last night.

I was actually contemplating seeing if anyone was interested in setting up a picture memorial site attached here to the Acaeum as like a subweb, with a dedication to the family and have it dependant solely on outside contributions of pictures and videos. I am just not sure that I would have the time to set it up myself though, but I was going to throw the idea out there in case anyone was interested. It certainly would be a worthwhile project.

I couldn't help with the subweb part, but I'd be happy to host a photo tribute to Gary using my server space from Apple. I'd be able to provide a URL for anyone to access, and also an RSS feed for anyone who uses Apple's .Mac service or owns a copy of iPhoto. I would be able to set up a pretty nice gallery, all modesty aside; much better than the average Flickr page, for instance.

If it worked, maybe Foul could tell me how to connect it as a subweb, or else I could just forward it all along to him at a later date.

If there's some interest out there, I'd be happy to do it. But I'd like to see at least another couple of respond to this thread before I jump in completely ...

The "after service" gathering grodog refers to:

In the evening, there will be an informal gathering to remember Gary with games, food, and beverage. This will be at the American Legion Hall, 735 Henry Street, Lake Geneva, WI 53147

His children (at least Ernie and Luke) want everyone who wants to come to feel welcome. As Ernie said "I hope it is like Mecca".
