There's an entry in one of the Guinness World Record books about a guy who began trading with an over-sized paper clip, worked his way up to a collectible sports card, and ended up trading that for a house in Canada or someplace.

Why don't we as collectors do more trading?  Frank is about the only guy I've come across here (other than Steven) who mentions trading on a fairly regular basis.

Currency has a fixed value (within narrow limits), but objects can be traded for almost anything.  I often prefer to trade, but I'd be curious to hear the thoughts of other members on this subject.

I offer trades every time I list items, unless I am selling for someone else. I just don't have a lot that you people would want (or, if I do, I don't want to get rid of it myself.) I love trades, personally. Heck, one of my first forays into this "world" was with grodog and a trade. Matter of fact, I just traded a Talisman 1st edition box set for some D&D stuff, so I'm always looking...

Yes, we traded last year. Some C&C items for some AD&D stuff. Was a good experience, and what prompted me to look at what you had for sale, actually.

I'm always up for a trade.  I think I wanted to do some trading with Frank but he was in his sell off phase.  I've traded with a few people here but it is tough to find items that I am still looking for.

Trading only works if you've got something worth trading.  (Unless you want to trade me a woodgrain for the increasingly rare 4th print DMG...)  I don't really have anything anybody would want, so I'm pretty much out of the trading circle for now.

Also, trading over long distances is only practical for valuable or hard-to-find stuff.   Like anything else, It's limited by postal fees.  If I need a B2, I'm not getting it from Australia.  I'm not even getting on a bus for it.  It's worth my while to wait a random passerby hands me one.

Random passerbys hand you copies of B2? Thats really weird.  I only get X1's on any regular basis with that method.

Ok, technicallly I was the random passerby on that one  The guy just had 'em on the sidewalk with a sign saying $2 each  

I just realized that I'm not really a collector...this stuff just seeks out and finds me.

For the non collector I think that tradiing is great, they get rid of stuff they have bought and don't need for something they are interested in, I mostly see this is rpgnet, mostly this is newer stuff but some old stuff mixed in there as well.. for the hardcore collector that has been collecting a while there is not mch they are after.. there is a stack of stuff that I have that I would mind trading off, but i find that it is just easier for me just to buy the stuff I was rather than trade, some people have 1 or 2 items I would like, its just not worth my time to haggle etc for the items with something of mine they may or maynot want, its just easier just to whip out the old plastic and the deal is done... unless someone want to trade off Dinky Dungeons, Spawn of Fashan...

On a side note I will be sell some stuff later in the year, I need to just get rid of it (and hoow many times have I said that...)
