Hey, I wanted to share with you all that I finally found all the Spellfire artists.

The last two were Ellisa Mitchell and Val Mayerik. I had e-mailed him while checking with known MtG artists... that was a mistake. He didn't remember Spellfire at the time. It wasn't until I remembered the cards from whose edges I reconstructed Charles Keegan's signature that I thought of checking rpggeek for other TSR products in which Keegan had worked, and found about Treasure Tales, GR 5.

I looked online, and was able to match one of the styles in the color plates on the book; the artist credits included Ellisa Mitchell and Val Mayerik, among others. Searching in error for Ellisa Mitchell, I learned her full name was Ellisa Hawke Mitchell - a big fan of dragons, an artist, and her style matched E.H.M.'s. Though she hadn't ever signed that way in other products, EHM were her initials, she may have used a different signature for smaller plates. Then I found a signed plate with the style matching the bulk of Draconomicon. That signature, I matched to Val Mayerik's, and asked him again. This time, he concluded that, though he didn't remember these cards, the coloring and posing style is in fact unmistakably the one he was using at the time.

So now I have only 5 artstyles left unclaimed. However, they're characteristic enough that I don't feel the need for more confirmation. I've seen enough. I'm confident I've finally tracked down every single last artist for Spellfire, I'm certain of it this time. All that's left is the artists for some 1993 trading cards. I thought they were by Robh Ruppel, but he said he wasn't one of the freelancers tapped for it. I think... I've done enough, at least for now: maybe later I'll try and track those down somehow.

For now, just taking a victory lap! This place has been invaluable in finding some of those cards, and I want to thank everyone in the Acaeum for your generous aid in this self-imposed quest.

Hi, do you have examples posted of the five that you are still having trouble figuring out?

By the way, I think Ellisa is/was related to artist David L. Martin.... one of the many David Martin's, but his middle initial is L.
