Can someone post the link to the conversation about spotting photocopied fakes. Items that have been copied and sold as originals?

I searched the forums but can't find it. I think it had pictures of examples of types of things to look for

I recently purchased a 1978 product from seller on ebay and it just looks fishy to me

thanks

Watch out for Tekumel fakes. I picked up a bunch of these from NK awhile back. Dirt cheap, but they were all photocopies.

Speaking of such.   Currently on Ebay, I believe these are fakes:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

* has sold a few of these over the last number of years - I think this guy might also be the source of the fake Gamelords items.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

* formerly known as wargames-east now frodosring

I think our discussion ended with them being legit - the stuff I've picked up from warhouse all seems to be legit so I don't have too many worries there.

the seller chibicelina has up a deeds of the ever-glorious, ending in 13 hours, that is an obvious fake. the original is slightly smaller than normal, and this fake compensated in making it 8.5x11 by having the cover image and text be off-set. what a bad fake! i would be very leery of anything else that they are selling (does someone here know how to report the seller to ebay?)

Do you have the Tita Games reprint to compare?

The seller in question had a relative with a long-time Tekumel interest - regularly in touch with Prof. Barker and had acquired material from early and later SW'd EPT sets onwards. I wasn't sure about the file/ref copies of a couple of items, though; possibly passed on "as a favor" rather than anything more significant.
(SW'd copies of Swords & Glory don't exactly pop up every day, either).

if it is a tita's house of games "actually authorized" reprint......drum roll please........the seller should have disclosed that because a tita's reprint has nowhere near the value of an original. i do not have a tita's reprint of that item, but the other tita's items that i've seen DO have the same format as the original. do YOU have this reprint item David, or were you giving them the benefit of the doubt?  the seller is also disingenuous for stacking items, leading a buyer to believe that there are a number of items for sale, but only actually selling the one item.

Sorry, if I had the budget to purchase all the EPT items I'm looking for I wouldn't have needed to ask.

The sales where they have more than one item available from the estate are listed in a somewhat hamfisted manner but the auction description still reads relatively clearly to me compared with some of the deliberate deceptions I've spotted before.

Could this also be some non-official fan-created production?

If I remember right, the (official TSR) miniature rules for Tekumel is "Legions of the Petal Throne".

( => Missum! , fwiw :) )

These look rather better with the slightly overlapping covers that I recall on the top two at least and a sensible-ish price tag on one. I haven't dug out a copy to confirm, though. $18 for 4 copies would be an interesting price but that could certainly have been listed a bit better.

Their two prints of The Book of Ebon Bindings looked fine as well IIRC.

Bumping this old thread to add a new one, Bio One:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

The Bio One in this listing appears to be a fake, due to the fact that you can see the photocopied stapling on the font cover.  Anyone else ever see anything like this?
