Solution for staple rust?

I am looking for some older items, Judges Guild and not very rare, but most have staple rust.

Is this a big issue for having near a collection? Anything you can do about it?

Well, in some cases (the most critical) i simply replaced them... of course the halo of rust over the paper remains, but at least you avoid the disintegration of the staples within the book...
