Hello All,

I'm new here so I thought I would start by asking if anyone has ever seen a copy of The Complete Thief's Handbook that has a misprinted cover. What I mean is the cover is blank, as well as the spine. No gold leaf imprint, nothing save for the sticker on the back. When I bought this new my 12 year old mind thought this appropriate due to this being the 'thief's handbook'- secret stuff. Whatever. I still own it and so I'm wondering if it is some one of a kind treasure or one of a million.

I've never seen any of the "handbooks" with a cover like that. Very interesting. Can you post some pictures?

Sure, I have a picture or two. I appreciate the interest, this has always sort of gnawed at me a little. Pardon the beat up edges, but it has been used. :mrgreen:

I have seen copies where the cover was worn off. Is there an imprint of the words or is it solid/flat?

But wouldn't the spine have writing as well on these?

There is no imprint at all. I would not waste anyone's time with a worn cover, I promise. This book has always been this way, from shrink to now.

The mechanics of printing all the splatbook covers:
Print titling (front/rear/spine)
Stamp rear cover for panel, apply panel with auto-gluer
Stack for collating; when ready, run thru folder/autogluer, apply to perfect-bound guts (last stage).

This (and almost certainly a short run of covers like this) didn't get printed but did go thru the stamper/gluer.
Most would have been caught in a pressproof check and discarded...
A couple got through.

Thanks for the methodology. I sort of figured it just passed under someone's nose with out being caught. I'll keep it on the shelf and make sure the kids wash their hands before using it. Glad I could bring something new to the table.
