Just received in the mail today an unusual print of the 1E DMG.

It fits all the descriptors of the 1st Printing Dungeon Masters Guide (Dungeon Masters Guide) except one:
It has brilliantly yellow flyleaves and endpapers instead of the typical yellow-orange. There is no way it is due to fade, as the color of all of the flyleaves and endpapers are consistently the same shade of yellow for the entire sheet, as well as among one another.

Has anyone else encountered a bright yellow one?  Oddity?  Different sub-printing?  Random House being random?

It probably went down a bit like this:
"Crap, we're out of goldenrod endpapers!"
"Just use the canary, sheesh. Like really, who's ever gonna notice?"

@ Deimos - You've likely nailed it. This was a small shop in Wisconsin in the '70s, so all kinds of delicious irregularities were likely to have occurred. I'm not sure if you recall, but I'm a fellow binding stitch slash front free endpaper fanatic, and we've had some (a couple, anyway) discussions about similar issues in the past. Good to see you around again; as I recall, you were scarce when I left.
