Howdy All,

I just came across this listing on eBay and at first, it appears to be 1st Print, but the Wizard logo is NOT over the foot of the wizard character on the cover. Has anyone come across an odd printing like this before? Please let me know.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Thanks in Advance - Paul

"Okay, we turn the corner and see a Purple 'WHAT' !?!" . . (the DM rolls a 20 or so he says) . . It all went black right after that.

I don't think the DMG in that auction is a first print but rather one that has a misprinting on the cover that is similar to the 1st prints.

If you look at the top of the one in your auction, the "Dungeon Masters" line at the top is really close to the top edge - so it was printed really high up on the book.  If you bring it down to where it should be, the "D" will then fit into the banner.  Also, the "2011" in the auction book looks like it is too far to the right for a 1st print.

I think that's a good assessment.  Best bet - ask the seller about other things that would distinguish a 1st print.  Of course, if it's a misprinted cover on another early print (3rd, say), then it may be pretty hard to distinguish.
