I really like the way you think Zach.

1) I think that if you number and date the prints (together or separately) and can get Jeff's autograph... should be plenty.

2) Canvas sounds expensive, and if that expense endangers the kickstarters overall success, then IMO it would not be worth it.
So go with canvas only if you determine the cost will be feasible.
Speaking only for myself? I would be happy with a high quality paper print signed by Jeff.

If a few canvas prints would NOT be too much...but 30 canvas prints would be cost prohibitive.
Then perhaps only your "high-level backers" get canvas prints, whether it is 8, 10, or 12 prints....
Whatever backing level "high-level backers" means to you is the number of canvas prints.
You mentioned 10, so I would guess that was the number you have already decided on.

All other prints on good quality paper... numbered 1 of 20...
I think they would sell in a short time.

As an art collector, I would give the advice to make canvass a high-level backer reward/option.  It is expensive but the print looks a lot better to me and will last much longer.

I should have prefaced my remark by saying, I am not a high-level backer.

Really admire the way your doing things for this Kickstarter Zach!

I appreciate the enthusiasm, trust me ever since Alyssa put the image in my dropbox NOBODY is more excited than I am. When I commissioned it I was very specific that price was a secondary consideration to getting the absolute best hand-drawn map she could produce. Personally I think she outdid herself, she certainly surpassed my most optimistic hope for the map. My Kickstarter is an obvious window into my favorite game nostalgia minis, box and dice were very important to me, but the map the element I was going to have no matter what.

This could change slightly but here is the plan...

Everyone at $175 or higher will get the map professionally folded in the box at a very upgraded size (Matt, Bill, Ryan, John and the rest of you at the $250 level will get them tubed and rolled free (even to my backer from Japan, though that will cost me in the end, he has been my most vocal supporter in the comments). It will be on 36 lb presentation poster paper.

There will be a new cartography backer level soon and the price will land at between $30-$40 US tubed and rolled. Any other US backer can get one by adding-on that amount at the pledge. I hope they have wall space though...those maps are going to be huge!

I have two choices and a promise not to divulge the costs (very, very reasonable to me and recommended by Alyssa, thus reasonable to you as well )

Details to be finalized but these are the sizes... Remember the funding level only got 11 x 17 so these are a big upgrade...

[EDIT- I talked with Alyssa and the biggest one will be the one below, the larger size showed the slightest pixelation and I won't sell it like that]

42" x 30" this will the standard size offered for high-level box sets (except uber levels) and I will have it professionally folded thanks to advice from Frog God's First Couple (Bill and his lovely wife). Tubed will be an upgrade choice (except at $250 then it's free)

As I said the ones for the boxes aren't finalized a la which size until I get more info on the other fees, but regardless the $30-$40 cartography pledge level add-on will go live later tonight. I know I will definitely be printing at least 3 of the biggest I can make (it will be the 48 x 36, if that can be done) on Canvas and will offer interested backers that option completely at cost i.e. the upgrade/add-on price plus the true cost (zero-margin for me) of getting these done above that. Same with the Jeff Dee cover, which will be on 212g museum quality paper with an option to upgrade at cost.

I want to maximize the rewards of high-level backers and I want to get anyone who wants either (or both) of these the best print that I can make happen. I do this because Alyssa and Jeff's artistry deserves it and as a shout out to those who appreciate their work.

EDIT: I verified everything with Alyssa so it's correct (signed, numbered etc) The largest map she is personally checking the test on tomorrow (she saw the other sizes), I will make that upgrade available once I am 100% sure it will be perfect, the regular pledge level is going live tonight...so why not get ahead of the game and add $40 to your pledge...In if we make $150 dollars tonight I am getting another sculpt made...if we don't I save $300...I know you all like watching me spend money Z

So do I Fantasy cartography is my favorite individual element of a game set. Alyssa was not inexpensive, but for my money (which it was ) Alyssa is the best.

Finally, just to close up this thread, I wanted to show off a little bit of the final canvas print of the map from my project- the idea behind making a high end print started reading here. Scroll down for the end result.

Thanks to the advice from the Art Committee and generous supporters here I was able to get the map from this long ago thread printed on high quality canvas. The six of these printed all turned out very nice at a final size of 43" x 31".

I am very pleased indeed.
