I love this campaign/adventure, but have only read the Necromancer Games version.

Has anyone here played the Dangerous Journeys (1992) version?  Knowing nothing about Dangerous Journeys, is it similar to AD&D, or can it be easily adapted to AD&D rules?  I'd really like to try running parts of Necropolis as an AD&D adventure, and am considering picking up a copy of the 1992 version.

DJ is not like D&D. There are some similarities in that they have magic and monsters. But, really, the two are very different in execution.

For example, a starting DJ character could be considered about name level in AD&D.

Magic is incredibly different.

It's not impossible to play Necropolis with AD&D rules but it would take some knowing both systems well.

Other than that, yeah, I have experience with it. Great setule (sounded better in the head than modting.)

There is apparently some earlier AD&D version of Necropolis that was going to be published by NIPI but it never appeared.  Gary ran it as a con game c. 1987-88 or so, since I know at least one person who had played it in that format.

Every design choice you could make, Gary took it the other direction with Dangerous Journeys.

So, 0-100% instead of d20, fixed points to allocate between characteristics, etc.

On the otherhand, if you have translated RQ to D&D and back, you can handle DJ.
