What are these; AD&D temporary tattoos?

Hi everyone.

Bear with me here.

So I am to sell my brother-in-law's completely unused DMG, Deities & Demigods (Cthulhu!), Monster Manual and Fiend Folio.

I'm flipping through the books, amazed at their condition (simply untouched) and grateful he never wrote his name across the covers like I did, when I realize something.  There are what appears to be temporary tattoos of AD&D creatures on the interior covers.  

I've never seen these things before and they're very haphazardly placed, so I assume he did it and that these are temporary tattoos, but I'd like a confirmation.

DMG has a stirge, the demon from a cover, and a chimera.
Dt&Dg has a bullette, a quasit and a cockatrice
Monster Manual has an umber hulk, pegasus, and a salamander man
His Field Folio has nothing.

So... what the heck?  I was more of an OD&D guy myself, but I don't recall these images on the interior of these books.  Attaching photos.

These are AD&D Instant Rub-Down Picture Transfers, I believe there were 8 or so sets.

Since they are D&D related, those rub down transfers being on the inside covers would not sway me from collecting otherwise nice copies of those books at all.
If they were on the outside covers?  !  now that would suck.

For me indifferent...
I have about a dozen of those Transfer Sets... all sealed and unused.

Great for nostalgia.  Effect on value depends on the condition of the book otherwise.  If the books are otherwise vg+ or better, they harm the value considerably.  If the books are just players copies, it doesn't really matter much.  Now, no matter the condition, they are players copies and have play value.

These would greatly reduce the value of a near mint or mint book.  I would not consider them as collectable copies with all those transfers stuck to the inside of the books.  Major damage!!!!

If you do list them on e-Bay Post a link here, or on the Classified ads Board.
As I stated above: if the books are otherwise in really nice condition; Rub down D&D related stickers inside the covers do not bother me.

Some folks want perfectly Mint or nothing.... And there is nothing wrong with that either.

I try to aim for slightly less than perfect and tend to get more of the uncommon things I want that way...
And with the minor degrading features (like rub down stickers) usually for less money too.

I'd agree with Gnat. If they're otherwise great condition, it wouldn't bother me and I'd pay for them

I'm going to start a different topic for a discussion on how to auction.

As to the books, and as someone who has owned a completely beat to sh-- Monster Manual ("player" quality; hah), etc. these things are in surprisingly sharp shape and have that nice "book" smell to them.  The pages are crisp.  The corner wear is minor at worst.  I don't think my brother-in-law ever even opened them except to put the damn stickers in.  I'm not going to try to remove the stickers; I'd leave that to the buyer, but I'm very accurate at what I describe and I don't plan to leave that info out when I do write up the auctions.  For those that want to know, I'll make sure I drop a note in the proper forum when they go up.  It'll be within the next 14 days, which is probably the 100% worst time for anyone to run an auction, but the lady of the house has asked me to make room in the office, so that's what I'm doing.

I know some of you have likely "been there".
