Re: TM1 The Lost Caravan

Date: May 27, 2010

Pacesetter Games & Simulations announces the general release of its newest adventure game module, TM1 The Lost Caravan. This module is designed for the First Edition Advanced Game and OSRIC Rules System. The Lost Caravan was originally a tournament adventure that was run at MDG's Wintercon X1 (1982) held at Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan.

As well as being PG&S's initial First Edition/OSRIC compatible adventure, The Lost Caravan is our largest release to day. The module includes a detached full color, cardstock cover and a 40-page adventure book, 20-page accessory book and copies of inserts from the original tournament adventure including character sheets and hand-drawn maps.

Unlike previous Pacesetter modules, the first printing of this module will include additions that will never appear in subsequent printings. This first printing will include copies of the original hand-drawn maps from the 1982 tournament. Additionally, the module will include full-size copies of all the original pre-generated characters on their original character sheets. The first print run for TM1 The Lost Caravan is limited to 150 numbered copies. However, due to extreme demand through Pacesetter's exclusive Standing Order Program, this module is expected to completely sell out in the next week.

Subsequent printings will be reformatted with completely revised covers and art. The second printing of TM1 The Lost Caravan is scheduled for release in Fall 2010.

I LOVE the 2nd picture above. It's an awesome picture of that specific encounter area.... heh...

I had the absolute pleasure and honor of running a session of TM1 The Lost Caravan at the recent NTRPG Con. The players were fantastic and included such members as Bracton, Prufrock, SirAllen and a bunch of guys who I can't remember their screen names. Special thanks to SirAllen for providing the Jack to take the edge off! We polished off the whole bottle and on the breaks the guys made at least one beer run off-site. We started around 6:30 p.m. and ran until after 2 a.m. which was close to the latest running event at the convention. Again, what a fantastic group of players. My thanks to one and all for letting me get behind the screen.

Anyway, this was the first time this adventure saw actual action in 28 years almost to the day it originally ran at Wintercon 1982! What a throwback. I was even having a hard time reading the player introduction as I was getting sentimental. How lame is that?

Not lame at all.

I wanted to play in that one.
But I had detailed inside information regarding the adventure and it would not have been right to take a spot from a person who would have not had that information. 8)
However, if I had known about the refreshements, I would have at least tried....
I suspect it was great fun.

Never fear, there is always next year. The NTRPG module will be another exclusive, but this time there will be no internet release until after the convention and the only editors will be those who are not attending. No more kid gloves for you guys!

As far as the game Saturday night. I have a feeling there will be talk about that particular event for some years to come...

For those who have yet to see it, TM1 has a huge amount of material, and I can tell you it was a blast to play.  There's a mystery to ponder, and lots of action.  I kept thinking I had figured everything out, and then something would happen, and I'd realize we had only solved one part, or that there was even more going on than I had thought.  For a normal group (not under convention time pressure), this could easily take up four or five game sessions.  If you don't have a copy yet, go get one.  Now.

We had more going for us than just the module, however.  Bill's a great DM.  He kept things moving, and challenged the players to think, role play and act.  I can't wait to see what Bill's going to run for next year's NTRPGCon.

Ah yes, I expect so.  I'd make an illusion to something here, but I wouldn't want to give anything away.

You should have been at the NTRPG Con!

Mailing them out this week. I picked them up on Wednesday right before flying to Texas.

Yes, I should have. It sounds like a great deal of fun was had by all. Perhaps next year....
