I noticed several comments about Amanda's auctions.. there are a bunch of the very rares that may come up soon. 1st PoTVQ, 1st Tsoj, 1st Dwarven Glory, complete set of RPGAs, and the R series mods. The sellers approached me and asked if I had any interest after I won a few things. This was long after they pulled the R-series mods that I read about in earlier posts. I backed out due to current $$$ availability and last I heard they will be put up on eBay. Hope everyone has spare change and will put in a bid or 20.

The sellers are very nice people that live fairly close to me over in Birmingham, AL. If anyone wants me to take a short trip (2.5hrs or so) to check out the goods or arrange a pickup please let me know via PM.

The items come from a very large collection of a relative that was big RPG collector who passed away recently. I tried to find out if he had any connection to the St. Regis Press based in Birmingham, publisher of those D&D folders mentioned in the recent posts, but the sellers weren't sure of his background with the RPG industry. $400 for a Warriors of Mars in that condition is pretty reasonable, I think. It wasn't that long ago there were a few copies that sold for $500 - this copy is in better condition than any of those.



Prices for some of the medium type rares (WoM, Guidon Chainmail etc) seem to be softening; over the past 12 months or so there have been some great prices (from a buyer's perspective). I guess all the big hitters now have a copy, or perhaps people have realised there are a few more copies out there then they realised. I imagine after a couple went for $500 a number of sellers decided to put theirs up on the block.



Given a couple of items over the last few days (Son of Traps, Aid to the Dwarves) I think it must be that people realise WoM isn't as rare as previously believed. The market is still pretty healthy for hard to find or truly unique items (such as Dwarves), rather than simply uncommon and desirable (such as WoM).

Someone still needs to explain to him that he's never gonna sell anything at these prices... Or maybe these are just rare enough, I don't know. But his other stuff is way too high.
