Thanks Frank. Means a lot to me as a failed author and former English major.  :D

Yeah, FB is rather difficult to spell.

On an unrelated note, I just picked up a 1st edition copy of the TSR Lankhmar boardgame. It's in overall very nice shape, however it has two major flaws. First, there is highlighting all over the place. So much, I wonder why the owner even bothered. Second issue is that while all Rewards and Geas cards with printing on the reverse are present, none of the blanks are.

Still great for running a game (which is what I had intended to try), but not being complete and unmarked is a bummer.

How is the map? If I remember correctly I had a lot of trouble keeping it flat and finally had to use a square of plexiglass.

I'm not really sure what the issue is to which Mr Mentzer is referring...  what did I miss?

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Sadly, I believe I know which issue Frank is referring to but I won't speculate.

If it is the one I believe it is, it saddens me and has certainly caused me some disillusionment with my favorite pastime.

The owner didn't think like you. There are some pinholes near the corners and a couple of edges. Apparently pinned down to a surface. Plexiglass would have been my preferred method as well. Still very usable, though.

Haven't posted in a while, but do check in from time to time.  This sounds like an interesting development.  I'm not on FB, Frank, but would like to hear what you have to say.  Hoping to see a summary here.

A friend of mine from waaaaaay back had a bunch of these. We went nuts in the sandbox as kids with them. I cannot seem to come up with who made these (does not appear to be ARCO, and Marx is turning up nothing so far). Anybody know the manufacturer? And did they ever make horses for the riders? I've never seen them.

No idea if this is right, but they remind me of the figures from my brother's Dragonriders of the Styx play set by DRC.  These aren't from that set, but the style looks like they might be by the same company.

Aha! Thanks, well spotted.

MPC/Miner. Another mystery of my youth solved.  :D  My buddy didn't have the castle or horses, just the knnnnighits. I recall having a blast with some MPC dinosaurs. Maybe they were knock-offs, though. I remember getting them in bags, not blisters or box sets.

If anyone is interested in developing some creative writing muscles... Here is a site that has a really cool premise and allows you to post your own ideas. I'm linking the one thing that I've managed to [strike]get[/strike] keep published on the site.
