Yeah, 13+30 (from the auction I bought from)+"more then 10 available" in the current auction=too good to be true.  I contacted Bergamot Brass Casting.  I'll post if I get a reply.

A case could be made that this seller is being deceptive, and is actually either making these belt buckles, or having someone produce them for him.  I say this having bought a couple of them.  They look really good, but there are some subtle differences between the ones I purchased, and ones that I seen with some age on them, including the ones he has pictured.  I'm beginning to think that these could be forgeries.

The biggest visual difference I noticed, other than how "new" they are, is in the wire diameter used for the loop.  The originals all seem to have a larger wire diameter, at least the ones I have been exposed to.

I think the seller needs to be confronted on this. Bergamot Brass Casting is definitely a good source to contact, but it could be some Chinese company too.

Most recient message from the seller, "I am very sorry someone hacked our ebay account and sent a message to you. We can ship your order tomorrow I have been sick. I don't know who sent you that message but it was not me. So hopefully everything is ok. And please don't open a dispute."

Quite the quick turn-around!

I asked the seller if the buckles were actually "new old stock" and this is his reply, "Yes these buckles are from 1980. We have collected them for years."

If these buckles are as rare as we believe, even collecting for years, how do you get over 50 of them!!! 8O

I call BS to that statement from the seller.

When I inquired about buying in bulk, his response led me to believe he would almost take any offer. I did buy 2 a few days ago for $50 each.

If they come in, the only comparison I have would be the ones I bought a couple of years ago probably from the same guy.

As another curious note, all the seller has posted are *rare* belt buckles and they have *new* multiples of each.  I'm really leaning toward these being likely very good fakes.  Or the seller could really have stumbled on a hidden stash of old belt buckles and have no recollection of where this stumbling may have occurred.   :roll:

Is it possible someone has found the old casts for these?  Recently some guy stumbled across the VIC20 cast and did a KS for empty VIC20 housings in various colors.   I imagine old casts get lost, and then found again...

Why not? I also recall someone getting a hold of the old Mego molds for Planet of the Apes figurines from the 70s and reproducing them.

Wouldn't like the deceptiveness of being labeled 'old stock' when they are really reproductions, though, if that were the case.

A couple of fresh looking modules on the 5th picture (obvious enough on the main auction thumbnail, IMO ;));

I'm not up to date on all the foreign versions, but I haven't come across this one before so I thought I'd post it.

Hmmm... that didn't take long.   :lol: I wonder if he had it listed incorrectly?  I thought it was a good deal.

I didn't like the look of the books.
