And speaking of taking all your money....I haven't pimped the NTRPG con raffle items lately. There have been a few added to the list.

Tickets are $5, for the majority you do not have to be present to win.  Buy as many tickets as you like, ask Prufrock, John Gaunt or Cimmerian how multiple tickets work out (usually, pretty darn good!).

Not a bad deal to just buy at least one, though.  My brother bought ONE ticket last year and won the Angela Imrie painted miniatures (which she kindly turned into a diorama, and now is entering in a contest since it apparently looks so incredible).  

The prizes, as usual, are pretty boss. We don't mess around on these....everything is worth at least $20 (most far, far more).

Mike, when you buy raffle tickets via Paypal, are you given actual tickets at the Con?  Also, can you buy tickets at the Con or do they all have to be purchased beforehand?  Same with shirts, can they be purchased at the Con?

I haven't even bought the actual tickets yet, but as soon as I do I will issue them to anyone who has purchased tickets. I separate the tickets and right each persons name on them. I then email the numbers to the people that purchased them online. If you are in attendance at the Con, they will also be in your check in packet.

T-Shirts... you can buy T-Shirts via the Swag link on the site ie: from Zazzle. Or when you registered for the Con you were given the options to buy them during registration. Those purchased during registration will be in your check in packet. We don't usually buy T-Shirts to sell at the Con since we never know the sizes to have and the only year we tried it, ended up with a half dozen shirts left over (which we only make about $3.00~$4.00 each on, so loss of money there). So I suggest you buy your T-Shirts at Zazzle, or during registration.

I may bring a few shirts to sell this year, I got stuck with half a dozen two years ago, but with twice as many attendees as that time I may do better selling them now. The problem is sizes, unless you have a local t-shirt place churning them out for you, you can't have a large variety sitting around (and you can't sell them the next year as the date is on the shirt). Shirts aren't cheap, last time I think I had to charge $25 each to make a small profit, but they are high quality (I still wear my shirt from year one, it is solid).   I would advise buying the shirts and other swag from Zazzle directly, but I may carry a dozen or so in my vendor booth just to see if they will sell.

Since I registered for the Con last year, I guess I'll have to rely on Zazzle for a shirt.  I'll probably get some raffle tickets as well.

As a Con beginner, I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm glad there are plenty of people around to answer my sometimes silly questions.

I will have my dice, as will my son, along with a few rulebooks for games we're in (and some to be signed by the special guests too).

As for the raffles, that is cool that you could sell or maybe trade items won if you already have them or whatever.  That said, I can safely say that I only own a couple of items on the raffle list.  On a scale of 1-20, I am something like a level 5 collector at best.  

That would make a good separate topic of discussion here.  "What level collector are you?"  I have a very large collection of RPG stuff, 70% of which is old-school D&D (1e, B/X mostly), including multiple copies and different printings of the 1e books and mods.  But I don't have much of the highly sought after and/or expensive stuff.  My coolest items are probably a Fighting Wheel, Dungeon #1, 1st print 1e DM screens, 1st print 1e PHB, Dragon Mag Archive, Metamorphosis Alpha 1st print, and 1st edition 1st print Boot Hill.  I don't believe I've ever spent more than about $100 on a single item.  I know there are some people here that have dropped more on one item than I've spent on my collection in the past year.

So I'm a level 5 collector.  I love collecting old gaming stuff almost as much as I enjoy playing old school games but I don't have any of the high dollar items that some of the expert (level 15 to 20) collectors here have.  Thus If I'm lucky enough to win anything at the convention, I'm 99% certain it will be going straight into my collection.

We can use anything, guys.  If nothing else for silent auctions we run during the day (which were a big hit last year and helped us raise quite a bit of money)  Every little bit helps. So bring 'em! We get lots of donations and we use all of them, the con is entirely non-profit (as in, we haven't seen a profit yet!!!).  This year our expenses include a giant glass display case and table rentals. I'm sure other things will pop up in the next two months.

BTW, donations don't have to be rare collectibles.  Common modules, rulebooks for AD&D and Basic D&D, newer items you don't need or want, metal or plastic miniatures, old packages of character sheets, dice, non-D&D gaming stuff, old board games, etc. For example we have a small library of old 1st edition books we lend out (check out system) to gamers, so we will take any copies of the PHB/MM/DMG you have.  We have a community box of minis we lend out. Common modules can be bundled together as a nice lot, or have the cover signed by one of our guests that contributed to the module, and suddenly it's a collectible!  Dice and character sheets is self-explanatory. Even old board games can be used as we really want to beef up our game closet for use at the con (at the moment we don't have much more than half a dozen board and card type games).  I'd really be interested in games for younger people like Dungeon! or something similar that kids can set up and play easily. Kids, as you know, are our future  

Also, if anyone wants to auction one of their own items, if it's expected to generate $50 or more we can include it, we charge a 20% commission.  I have to ok it first, to see if its something we want in the auction and if we'll have time to sell it.

But anyway, if you and Mal want to donate something, just let me know and send it along with the other stuff you're mailing. Thanks so much!
