Video game collectors would do the same thing if they read about some of these RPG prices...

I dunno, Tharizdun, for 17.5 you could get an insane RPG collection, not just a single cartridge. For that money, if I can't drive it, fuck it.
How funny would it be if he left it in his car on a hot day by mistake?

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

If you follow the seller's instructions to the letter, then you can only keep the book for about two weeks (factoring in the shipping back and forth time)

The product must be returned within 21 days of purchasing item.

No matter how many pictures this guy takes of this lot it isn't going to somehow morph into anywhere near $250 worth.

I am not so sure that lot is even worth the stated shipping cost.

USA  $40.

But I offered a dollar anyway. 8)

I could use that REF1, so I'd go to, say, $8.

This isn't an auction and it is right here and not on ebay but it seemed worth noting.

It seems to me if you sign up here the first post you make shouldn't be a classified add. It also seems like this is an absolutely ridiculous price for ravenloft items. Maybe the prices have suddenly changed, but ravenloft has been in the under $5 range for the most part, and in large lots the prices I've seen are in the $3 a piece and under range.

Ebay is usually the place to test the waters and see if you hook a buyer. I just expect anyone posting a for sale ad here to have done some research and expect a much more experienced group of customers.

No problem here with his first post being a classified ad, but you are right, he should have done a little research first.  A reseller would be hard pressed to get $300 splitting that lot.  Probably good for the poster that classifed ad threads can't be responded to.

I don't know, introducing yourself first seems like the way to go. And posting on appraisel would have helped him a lot. This a helpful site (though the pricing should be removed from the item archive) and asking what people here think something is worth will usually get good suggestions and a reasonable range of values.

I do agree with you on the whole, but I guess I don't find it to be as much of a faux pas.  On a scale from Polite and Friendly to Rude, it is somewhere in the middle, maybe leaning Rude. (IMO)
