And then every once in a while you stumble across something to complete a set that you didn't even realize was incomplete in the first place! I can't decide if that's satisfying or disheartening (because I feel like I'll never be DONE).

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

I like photos like that!

Reminds me of that signature line I've seen around here, (something like) you can never have too much of something you didn't know you needed

This has to be one of my favorite threads here. I'm always impressed with our pursuit to complete our collections, or in most cases, genres or subsets of our collections...

One of the things I still struggle with is defining when a subset of my collection is complete, e.g. AD&D, or Gamma World, or Marvel Super Heroes. I thought I had a pretty good list of TSR xD&D to collect until I saw Stratochamp's "list" at GenCon a few years ago! ;-)

Where do I draw the line and wil I regret not buying that book that was not part of my "collecting list"? I'm sure I'm not the only one that struggles with the borders of their collections.

Recently, I completed the Alternity series of books by TSR - at least I think I have. ;-)

Having regrets comes with the territory. Just like buyers remorse comes with the territory. I suspect you reduce both of those factors when you reduce emotion from the equation. Going to conventions, eBay, or wherever with a wish list, condition ratings, and corresponding price points is helpful. Just like having a list of what you'd sell and what it would take to remove it from your collection is helpful. There's no one right way to collect or divest, but there are plenty of examples where poor choices were made. Live and learn! Enjoy the ride!

That's why I said, in the original post, that "Complete is self-defined!"

Here's my Midkemia Press collection, recently 'completed' but missing the impossible Tome of Mid-Kemia, and a couple cover/colour variants.

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

And I promised to have a try at Harn as well... there are still 13 items on the 'want' list... not counting ziplocs, reprints, modern-era items that I left off on purpose

Nice! I've been tempted to get that second version of Cities - I really like the cover!

There's also Runequest Cities, if you count that.

Looking great! You're getting there!

I recently came across one of the holy grail items in the group! I've got three things left

and then I can post complete with all variations, etc. pics... but I expect those last three could take me another year or two to unearth.
