I get a similar issue in reverse.

I'm US based, and am generally blocked from finding .uk items.

Occasionally a uk item gets posted here in one of the Interesting Items threads. I can follow the link here to that item, but if I just use eBay search for the same thing it won't show up, nor do my saved searches pick it up

Even when I follow the link to the item from here, sometimes the Place Bid button will just be missing

have you guys went over to the left hand side and clicked 'worldwide' when you search for stuff. I'm sure you have but that seems to solve the problem with my searches (sometimes)

when I list items I have them only on the 'US' site, this might be the problem, they have their items listed on the 'UK' site. Dunno

When I have issues, I change to worldwide as MegaTherion mentioned, but the best way I've found to eliminate most issues is to actually log onto the regional eBay site and search/bid there.

This is the way.

From a US perspective, logging out of eBay.com and into eBay.uk has been the only thing that really shows all uk items. Even with worldwide searches selected, there are still some I can't find, even when I know they exist

I can't be bothered with the whole find a proxy bidder to bid on Trove auctions thing. I used to bid quite often but when eBay started excluding UK bidders from US auctions it just got really hard to bid.
I do look to see what's in the auctions, and this time there are quite a few things I'd bid up, but the difficulty in bidding makes the whole thing a miserable experience, and that was also part of the fun.
At the end of the day, if people like me keep our pockets closed, then hopefully it lowers the cost for some of the other bidders, and as a community we only really survive if newbies catch the collecting bug and have a chance to pick up some of those rares and unique items.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

The advice you have been given is sound (I think). I live in London (greatest city in the world obv.) and use ebay.co.uk, but if I simply login to ebay.com I see that Paul has 323 items up for sale upon which I can bid. I know that sometimes the ebay algorithm is a bit flaky - but if I recall, this was always the case.

So, no need for unhappiness, you can bid away! I may also bid on a few, but am as poor as a church mouse right now – which is a wholly different problem!

The problem is that I can see the auctions on .com, but I cannot login or bid on them with a .co.uk account. I was tempted to put this elsewhere, but I'll give the seller the benefit of the doubt and just post it here, as they genuinely don't seem to know.

Does anyone looking at this think this is something other than a white box set that had some circular sitting on it for a long period of time(maybe a lamp?) in the sun that is just straight sun faded?

The creases at the corners of the box top would certainly support the theory that something was sitting in the middle of the box.

The seller wrote me a while ago asking about this box, and was convinced it was a valuable print defect. I told him/her that it appeared something round had sat on top of the box for a number of years, protecting that area while the rest of the box discolored. They didn't like that answer, so they had a third party email me the same question a week later. Told that guy the same thing, as well as a recommendation to ask in the forums here for additional opinions. And here we are. :/

I pretty much got the same response to my email to them. They are still definitely convinced it's a unique, super valuable item.

Have you tried putting in a bid on an item while logged into the U.S. "ebay.com" to confirm you're able to bid without a problem?

Clearly something rested on top of the box for a long time. It looks like a combination of sun/light, humidity, dust, fly specks, and possibly smoke affected the exposed portion.

A simple test with a little distilled water or a bit of isopropyl alcohol on a small area would verify if that's the case. It's looks like there's a spot where some type of cleaning was already attempted in the lower right area of the circle.

It won't let me log in to eBay .com. That's probably the problem. My account only lets me log in to .co.uk.

If that were the case, then surely the sun would have needed to be predominantily overhead, and indoor, so on a kitchen table under a skylight for 30 years?
I bought a job lot of sun bleached stuff from a gamnestore window display in Yazoo or some such place. and if a lamp sat on a box for 30 years (which the indentations indicate may be the case), then where are the areas that the sunlight could not reach on account of the object casting a shadow? One possible exception could be a snowglobe?

Until the seller gets it validated and ceases with the 'I spoke to a friend who told me what I wanted to hear' BS, followed by 'I'm no expert so don't blame me if I'm lying' crap, I'd say this is a damaged box with books in reasonabley fine condition. I don't see any of the real money players throwing $10K at this let alone fifteen without some sort of guarantee and a trusted third party getting eyeballs and a good camera on this.

Still, could be interesting if he's right. But he needs to get of his backside for his $15K and prove it rather than try blowing sunshine up people's asses.
