I've read enough of Appelcline's previous work and published preview to see that there is very little corroberated 'fact' in anyhting (s)he writes, and no intent by the auther ever to attempt to corroberate any of what (s)he presents as 'fact'. It seems sufficient in the author's opinion, that if (s)he considers it to be fact, and records it so, then it becomes fact.

I do realise this is a fantasy game we are talking about here, and that the author should be permitted to fantasize and romantisize the past to a certain degree. But speculating and just making stuff up and then reporting it to the world as fact, wthout any form or evidence; or ignoring actual facts because they ruin your story or conflict with what you want to be 'fact', with no explanation or attenpt to back up your fantasy with evidence? It ia a means of just standing back and pissing on us all.

But it might sell a book, so who gives a F is its accurate or not? Certainly not the author. I'll have the PDF in a week or so, and I'll certainly be comparing its' 'factual accuracy' to Appelcline's previous standards to see if (s)he's maintained the same level of diligence, or in fact learnt the difference between 'fact' and 'fiction'.

I do have a few questions and observations:

It reads like a particularly well written article in The Onion, except, sadly, it's true;

Now even D&D players have someone we can look down on and bully, as they are obviously less manly than we;

I dispute the line "the overwhelming majority are straight".  I don't even know how the rep said that with a straight face;

If these guys were halfway intelligent they'd ditch the Pretty Pony thing and start going to Anime cons, which is hot chick central these days, but I suspect actually speaking to a girl is quite a different experience to these gents from collecting girl toys;

They can get 300 people to show up for their BronyCon and the NTRPG con only gets 120???

This has got to be a Jersey thing.  These "Bronies" are probably nothing more than "guido" rejects.  They either didnt have the muscle development or were allergic to hair gel and spray on tan so they decided to form their own group.  They make furries seem almost normal.  

Now if someone formed their own cult based off Thundarr the Barbarian and went around yelling "demon dogs!" and "lords of light!", I'd be right there with 'em wearing nothing but a fur pelt.
