Zenopus is correct.  I asked the seller about it.  It has a wizard logo.

I may have overpaid a bit but this was the first one of these I have seen since I started looking in 2009.  Contents were untouched as described and this turned out to be a true first with a blank back and no dice.  Last item on my must have list is a woody.   I have actually seen these but never had the money at the time.  I want one in decent condition and now have the means (I think....) if one should turn up.  I hope it does not take as long as it did to find this Holmes first printing.

Nice score, Wolfbyte! Good to hear that another "blank box" 1st print has been found.

Great pick up on that print. I think most of us would pay more than that considering the condition, too!

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

Do you mean that the back of the booklet is blank, &/or the box bottom?

The box bottom and the back of the book are both blank.  Does that mean something?

In a sane universe? No. However you have stepped into an otherworldly realm of limitless printing detail known as the Acaeum zone. The page on this set,
Basic Set
lists a non-blank box starting with the late-1977 first printing (as opposed to the true first you apparently have). This page does not mention anything on the back of the rule book until Nov. '78.

Also it has been claimed on the forums here that some of the early copies of the boxed set were missing the Monster & Treasure Assortments. Such is not mentioned on the Acaeum reference page above, but it does have this quote about blank box bottoms: "We probably made up quite a few for GenCon if we had the components; incomplete boxes would not have fazed us in achieving that end." Dunno if the missing M&Ts are verifiable, or if these sets were the among the first in any event.

The one I have has a set of Dungeon Geomorphs, (C) 1976, Set One: Basic Dungeon and the Monster and treasure Assortment, (c) 1977, Set One: : Levels One-Three.
