Finally got around to watching “The King” although I had been listening to the Nicholas Britell soundtrack for some time. Prob already been discussed here? I saw some folks had issues with the historical accuracy (trebuchets use etc) but I thought It was phenomenal…big plus just being non-ai script/effects kinda crap thats everywhere now.

Have any of you read the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman? It's a series of seven books, and I just finished book #4. It's one of my favorite fantasy series ever! The series begins with aliens taking over earth and killing nearly everyone. The survivors are funneled into an elaborate dungeon where everything is filmed for a reality TV show! An AI computer runs the dungeon awarding experience points and treasure for killing monsters, overcoming traps, and completing quests. The author is clearly a RPG player and fan. Adventurers join other adventurers to form parties, and successful adventurers are interviewed on talk shows. Different adventurers respond differently to this sudden shift in their life. It sounds a little goofy at times, but as the series matures, the action shifts from simply overcoming traps, monsters, and dungeon levels to overcoming the creators of the game. I can't recommend the series enough! :)

It was entertaining. Had a bit of a "Game of Thrones" vibe. Definitely wasn't accurate, but I don't think that was the intent.

I read the first 2 books out loud to my wife and we both enjoyed them. She also enjoyed Ready Player 1, when it first came out, and found it similar. My daughter is on book 4.

I have been doing a lot of research on a project that I am working on and I stumbled across this site, I never knew existed and just wanted to point it out... reading a few articles it seems to be very well done...

The zine Threshold is one of the best online resources for BECMI. Any detail about its organisation is available on the board of the The Piazza!
My recommendation is to read Threshold!

Illegally downloaded and watched the new Deathstalker a week ago. I was surprised at how cheesy and akin to the original it was. I think they made Deathstalker into too much of a pussy, but the cheap effects and crappy acting and stupid lines were perfect. Sad that it is probably the best thing out of Hollywood in years.....

If you hit a Rowsdower, you get to keep it.

I saw the movie Avatar: Fire and Ash, and it was okay. I think this is only the second or third movie I've watched in a theater this year. I loved the first Avatar movie and the second was not quite as good, but still satisfying. I had several impressions; the first was that it was way too long at three hours and twelve minutes. The second was that it had several mini themes instead of one main one. The final one was that the special effects remain awesome; they've created a beautiful and wild world. The theater was packed. There are no post credit scenes. My youngest son and I watched it in the standard format. If you like the Avatar franchise overall, you will probably want to see it in the theater; otherwise, wait ten months and watch it on TV for free. :)

Being the self-sacrificing soul I am, I suffered through several episodes of Star Trek: StarFleet Academy so I could report on it. As Kurtzman said, it is nothing to do with Star Trek and everything to do with activism. Unless you are already on a regimen of SSRI's DO NOT watch this show. My friends took all sharp objects out of my place as a precaution, which was prudent and possibly lifesaving. It makes The Acolyte look like an award winner. This is the trend nowadays in Hollywood: take a franchise that catered to males and destroy it in the name of feminism and LGBTQ. No need to make original content and show some initiative. Reminds me of Melkor in Middle Earth. What I fail to understand is how investors haven't reined this shit in, they are losing the entire industry and hundreds of millions at a shot, yet they continue to allow activists to run the shows. Can anyone explain this?
On the plus side, I am working on my summer D&D body with a high carb-high fat diet supplemented by 2,200% of the RDA of salt. The best part about D&D as a summer activity is you never have to worry about tan lines or overdosing on Vitamin D due to sunlight exposure.
