$70 million per year is remarkable. The Lovecraft reference seems somehow apt.

Thanks for that link:  a fun read, and I shared it with the family :D

He looks out of character in the modeling photos. I wonder if he's doing it sarcastically. In my first job after uni, I worked for an international NGO and my supervisor had a modelling gig on the side. She asked me if I wanted to sign up and I said why not. I ended up doing a few TV ads. It was a weird experience, because I was not really interested and found it a bit of joke but was surrounded by young aspiring model / actors who took it all so seriously. Anyway, the point of this reminiscing is that they asked if I wanted to do an ad for a cheap clothing chain called Allens in Australia. My brothers and I used to laugh at and mock those ads, so I just couldn't resist. I was filmed in silly tight suit pants and had a stupid grin from ear to ear as I was just thinking how awesome my brother's reactions would be. I did it sarcastically (although they thought I was serious) and got a heap of laughs at home  :D

Is that a convention?

Yup.
They call themselves Legends, and Founders of something. Don't specify what, tho.
Sadly amusing.

I sort of like the hype. But yea, its a bad idea.

May 4th is "Star Wars" day. Not Lucas day. We all know of George Lucas. But he is a person and people can find fault. Its more difficult to find fault with "May the Force be with You."

How about Githyanki day? Who's with me!

I came to this thread to prove I am an idiot.

Yesterday was a tough market day, and looks to be the start of the rest of the correction. It seems to coincide with some economic actions against China. I am guessing 18 months of a downward pressure with some sharp rallies that dont last. Higher unemployment, and a weaker recovery when its all over. I expect the fed to talk tough next week, making the dollar stronger. That wont be their goal, but it will happen. The US can do many things to make the correction worse and last longer.

I base all this on what some people say on TV.

I recommend enjoying each day if I am right - or wrong. Eat pizza and various bar-b-q dishes, read, look for a mint first print MM. I also intend to keep intending to work out each day. :)

I got some shirts recently, the MM, PHB, DMG and (just because) the Fiend Folio cover arts.  Quality was good and the art reproduction pretty good also.  A friend of mine from my gaming group shared the link the last time we played and I thought it was cool.  They have other designs also.  In case anyone is interested, the website I ordered from is below.

Members of Congress recently wargamed conflict against China, deciding that the island would be impossible to re-supply in a conflict, & giving us a once-in-a-lifetime relevance to the outside world.

Island? I assume Taiwan?
I can't see China risking a major war over Taiwan. Initially it was their fear of the rulers fomenting rebellion to press home their claims of ruling China, but that obviously is not a factor anymore. They are no threat to the real China.

Not at the moment, but in a war it would provide a base from which to attack China. &nd the chips produced there could be used against China. Of course, in a war, the chip factories on Taiwan would be bombed, so either these would be relocated to the US for safekeeping (a win for the US), or destroyed (thus eliminating the competition for US chip factories). So wargaming it is a win-win, and therefore we should play "Initiate Conflict" at the beginning of our next turn. Oh, & also spend a move action on the USS Maine this turn.

"The Menu" on HBO is a wonderful, sort of horror, movie. I would be interested in what others think if they watch it.

I really liked it. Nice balance of comedy and drama. If you are interested here is a good youtube review/comment .. note. plenty of spoilers and and some indelicate language :)

I liked it!  I don’t watch many movies these days - I’ll bail after 20-30 minutes unless it keeps me engaged - and I’m happy to say the Menu caught and kept my interest. It got little unbelievable a little too much/ too early maybe, but the overall weirdness was pretty good :)

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng
