Saruman, I'm not talking about improving things as an individual, I'm talking about governments' penchant for always meddling in the state of things.

What's the difference? What is a government but a collection of individuals? The examples I gave before (agriculture or working as an employee) are not only those of single individuals, & working at one's own business would also involve interactions with others. Where are you getting the idea that someone can survive in a bubble of fantasy with no else but non-existent elves & goblins? Oh, right, D&D. No wonder I encounter that opinion so much around here.

No. It is a legal institution that has the power to enforce it's will with weaponry and the removal of freedoms and liberty. No 'collection of individuals' has that ability.
If you neither recognise, nor understand, the nature and structure of power, you have no option but to subordinate yourself to it.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Red in the UK is communal socialism, Labour, unionist. Blue in the UK is conservative, business, Christian centric, the Tory party. I think in the US the colours are the other way around. I don’t know about Australia. Seems like most countries use the Red vs Blue motif. They all do and say the same things. Why anyone votes is beyond me. Obedience perhaps, or indoctrination? Who knows.

99 of them at least, and that one from It. So that's a round 100 then.

"Your Uncle Walter's going on and on
'Bout everything he's seen and done
The voice of 50 years experience
He's drunk, watching the television

You know he's been around the world
Last night he flew to Baghdad
In his magical armchair
Cigarettes and a six pack, he just got back
Now the spit's flying everywhere...

Your Uncle Walter told me
Everything he'd do if he was president
Oh what a perfect world
This world would be
If he was President now
But he's not

And he sees the children smoking pot
He knows that in a moment
They'll be shooting up heroin
Teardrops in his armchair
A 50 minute lecture
Tobacco juice rolling down his chin

Hey, hey, hey, hey (Your Uncle Walter's going on and on)
You're back so late (Where did you go that you were gone so long)
How could you leave me here so long with Uncle Walter"

-Ben Folds Five

Yep, that's us. Drunk old uncles everywhere, start your engines, for the holiday season is upon us! Get your off-color remarks ready! (Posting this here, because there's no better thread on the internet to make sure all of us see it.)

Is there a rule somewhere that game designers can't live to a ripe old age?

RIP Kim, I loved your work.

Hm, I missed this back then, Sauro. Do you mean survive without society? I could, quite easily, and I'd be more than content. My contempt for society and humanity as a whole has progressed exponentially. I'd be the diametric opposite of Tom Hanks in Castaway; the LAST thing I'd want to do is leave an island that allows self-sufficience.

Sorry, my intent was not to trivialize Kim. That's what I get for scrolling from the top.

If 'Lost' was right & the afterlife is an island. then Kim is in a better place right now, & his loved ones can take comfort in your words. Does anyone want to explain 'Lost' for Kim's loved ones, in case they haven't seen it?

Hello. I’m tidying affairs for my husband, Dave, who was ashmire on here. His passing was a few weeks back and I’m dealing with some old forums etc and he seemed to be here a lot a few years back and had his demons.

His collection of ad&d stuff will likely go on eBay but seems to just be the ad&d books, nothing special. I thought I’d just let people know who knew him

All the best

Rolls a '3'

Aw. That’s such a shock. Please accept my prayers and deepest sympathy for your loss.
Do feel free to reach out to one of the UK lot for any help you need. They are all honest and most would be happy to help. Your husband will be sadly missed.
