Not sure I would agree with everything in the article, but he surely got it right at the end when he quotes his daughter who plays D&D.

I've become convinced that the writers must have mis-read GRR Martin's notes for the later events. There was foreshadowing about some kind of link between the fall of the Tagaryens & the rise of the White Walkers, maybe indicating that the White Walkers are undead Targaryens seeking revenge, but this idea remained undeveloped. It would have made more sense for a direct connection between the White Walkers & Daenerys, so that her death would be the event which makes all the undead crumble to dust.

Home insurance in the U.S. isn't mandated by law, but every mortgage lender requires it, to protect their investment.  If you're lucky enough to own your home outright, you don't need insurance, but then you'd be without any protection if your home is damaged or lost.  I don't know what happens in the quasi-socialist U.K. if your home burns down, but in the U.S., no insurance = sorry Charlie.

Besides which, in the U.S., much of the country is subject to natural disasters that the U.K. doesn't have -- hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes.  So with the increased risk here, it makes it more sensible to have protection.

Foul

The people getting crushed in FL are not the insured but the uninsured.  The older folks that have been down there for decades living in very small houses or mobile homes.  They tend to be in their early 70's or older and have nothing left.  Paradise has a cost and eventually every inch of Florida will get hit by a hurricane.  Maybe not this year or next decade but it will happen.  My biggest gripe is these individuals have been wiped from the face of that state and a developer buys up their property (land) for pennies on the dollar.  Many of these people have nowhere to turn or go and unless they have family are pretty much homeless.  I myself am considering moving the family down there.  Its beautiful and you can't beat the yearly temperatures. On that note, I believe FL will see a housing crash of epic proportions and the FED will do its damndest to make it happen. Prices in the region have gone from 100/sq ft  to over 200/sq ft in less than 3 years so all the ingredients are there.  The next 24 months at a minimum will be brutal for sellers.
