Phil, one of your comments above mentioned the box sets. Surely you don't mean the expert and basic boxed sets that actually have some width to the box do you? Currently I am using AFA to grade those as "toys".

Philflound wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:Actually with that submission of the R1, R3 & R4, the submitter had a reshrinked item that we rejected. Not sure if he knew or not when sending it in. I look forward to many more submissions. I had my own original 7 graded items of the small books, with the 8th one (Eldritch) about to be submitted this week. We have never graded any of the 5 Supplements, so I had to build these from scratch. In the video (which I'm still waiting to be released) I mistakenly call the supplements expansions. My section is a whole 3 1/2 - 4 minutes but we took an hour to film just me. Talk about retakes. I'm no professional.  :D  I'll post a link to it whenever they make it live. So far we haven't been getting any non-D&D items. I'm tempted to submit my Middle Earth items. Also, if I ever find my Witch Hunt RPG boxed set, I may submit that rulebook. That piece is rather rare.

I am also trying to get as much info on Dragon issues in our key comments and art credits. There were some errors with publisher too as they changed throughout the years. So you'll be seeing more info on the labels. If the company ever upgrades the program we use (been years in the making) hopefully we'll get more space for credits. Magazines only get 4 total lines whereas comics get 6.

Phil

Would be interested in hearing numbers on faked shrink since it seems to come up often as a con against collecting sealed items (easily faked).

Not sure what you're referring to. We have graded the original 8 books, but only individually. We also do not grade the reference sheet that came with the 1st 3 books. We do not grade boxes at all nor hardcover books.

Since we began grading shrinkwrapped RPG, I've seen 2 that were not original. The video game team has seen tons of shrinkwrapped items, both real and fake. We just reject and send back the item if we don't think it's original.

Philflound wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:The thing with all these graded modules is putting "highest graded" is not as impressive as people may think. That B1 is the ONLY graded 4th printing out there, so of course it is the highest. I'm technically going to have the highest graded original 3 rulebooks of 4th printing because they are going to be the ONLY 4th printing to be graded. I had to build them before submitting. Thing is, the original boxed sets, we have not graded any 1st - 3rd printings. So if you want to be
the first, send them in.

Now may be the time to send this stuff in and sell it. You may realize the most for your modules. Is it taking advantage? Probably. But I'd rather see collectors make money, maybe to even buy more stuff for their collection.

Phil

Phil, this is the comment I was responding to about the boxed sets thing. Maybe you are referring to the books from those sets not the sealed sets themselves.

Yes I was referring to the 1st through 3rd printings of Men & Magic, Monsters & Treasures & Underworld and Wilderness Adventures. All 8 of the original books we grade, actually as comics, not magazines. I thought of taking some photos and posting the grades I got. The range of the 7 I submitted was from 5.0 to 8.0. Putting in the 8th one (Eldritch) tomorrow. The only 1st print I had was Swords & Spells. BTW, I had no part of the grading of my own items.  :D

Philflound wrote in CGC Grading Etc...:Point out exactly where you read the shrinkwrap is removed? Was it on here? It certainly was not by me.

Fair point! I am not sure who said/wrote that... too many comments and threads to keep in mind who wrote and where... i am fairly sure we discussed somewhere in the past that a SWed module had to be pulled out from the shrink before being slabbed... i do not recall where!
So that was not true then! That is a good news for me, however apologies if i thought that it was you!

It's possible that used to be the case. I know we were getting unsealed modules for a few years now. To my knowledge, no one at CGC would open these things. But for a few months now, we've been doing the sealed items. I can't wait to see what some of these items realize in the Heritage auction. My advice to everyone here is get your sealed stuff graded, wait for the auction to hit and if they do really well, cash in. I personally do not have any sealed stuff.

So CGC posted the video on Youtube yesterday, a day later than the facebook and instagram posts. Here is the link for those who haven't seen it on either of the original two platforms. BTW, it was 1983 when I started playing with the red Basic rulebook that is on the table. This was an extra I had as my original was pretty destroyed. I had put it in a binder and the holes were torn.

Even folks who dont like grading could appreciate this a little right? :) I am not talking about price, just the display piece. I love it.

Hard to tell if the case is signed or the module. If the module then a shame it isn't a CGC yellow label. I hope one day someone organizes a signing for Elmore, Easley, Dee, Otus for CGC yellow label certification.

We've been getting witnessed sigs for Elmore, Easley and Otus that I've seen. We're hoping to get the JSA authentication for magazines soon so we can start verifying tons of signed mags.

That is most likely true as this would have been a green label qualified 9.4 with "Name written on cover in marker" on the label.

Thanks Tszii.  I have a question:

There is a 9.4 - DL2 in SW on the HA site.
It has 600 written on the shrink in pen.  Because it is on the shrink and not the book itself, there is no real penalty for the marking?
