Kind of a bummer, but not entirely a surprise based on the lengthy delay on the latest iteration. A sincere thank you to all of the committee, I have 3 great prints as a result of your work on this project. Well done!

I can't say as I'm surprised...saddened but not surprised. Many thanks to the committee for all of their efforts in managing and bringing to realization the trifecta of prints! Should any such effort revive in the future count me in, at number 7 of course  :wink:

Thank you Committee!  My three prints are framed and hung in my library and I’m lucky to see them almost every day. I’m super glad for the projects over the years and appreciate your time that made it happen!!

I was communicating with Clyde Caldwell on another topic, when we happened to delve into this project a bit.  Some might already be aware, but here's Clyde's explanation for not completing the commission:

I'm no longer taking on commissions.  Sorry I never got around to doing the painting for you guys, and I was sorry to hear (from Jeff Easley) that Doug Rhea had passed away a good while back.  Doug and I had talked about the commission, but unfortunately I never got around to it before he passed.

Sadly, no more commissions from Clyde.  This chapter is finished.

Thread Necro and Dream Realized! managed to get a copy of the Starmont Map for Conan's Hyboria. Pricey but worth it. Now to get it framed, gotta save my pennies.

So, Clyde Caldwell and Doug Rhea were in communications regarding a commission back in mid 2021, and Clyde was still willing to complete the commission.  However, he stated in part, "my progress on the commissions has been extremely slow.  This is due to the fact that I spend most of my work time filling and shipping website orders.  My website has done really well over the past several years and provides a good bit of my retirement income, which is a good thing.  The negative is that I spend fewer hours working on actual art projects."  As you are likely aware, Doug's health was not the best back then, and my sense of things was that both Clyde's situation and Doug's health situation both contributed to the commission never happening.  Perhaps the percentage of blame is greater with Clyde, but I do not know that. Other members of the art commission committee may have an alternate or different memory of events.

The bottom line for me is that this web community was able to create three amazing pieces of limited-edition art by some of our favorite artists.  We can all be proud of what was accomplished even if we missed out on one artist.  :)

Is there any option to approach another artist to do one? Or is that not an option at this point.
