Problem is, I think it would take a hands-on examination -- and possibly a simple metal test -- to say anything definitive. :/

I'll bring one of the "new" ones with me to GaryCon if you can dig up an original to compare to, Frank?

Sure. I have my collection handy (atm) and only live 15 minutes away.
otoh, if I get a lucrative sale in the next 2 months, I may sell the lot... we'll see.

This seems pretty cool. Anyone have an idea how rare?
Peter Green

Peter...
Rarity is about a  3.5 on a 5 scale.
You will see copies on e-Bay about once a month or so.
That copy is sorta rough though the current price (just over $20 USD) is still in range IMO.

The first printing version comes up a lot less often than that, though.  I had one many years ago, then sold it, and looked off and on for a couple of years before another 1st print came up for sale, but it went for more than I was willing to pay.  I agree, it is kind of a cool item.

Acceptable price, particularly for European customers, the shipping cost seems a bit high however, maybe an automatic shipping price from Ebay.

One point to mention : the listing says it is complete but the Easley illo is not mentioned. Where is the error ?

Another strange point : the seller has another one, more expensive

however the box seems in lesser condition (good rather than excellent). The Easley print is present, but in poor condition.

We had those made at the same time as some belt buckles & other stuff, early RPGA days, maybe 1982.
Lapel or tie pins. Mighta made 1000 of 'em.
Don't see 'em much any more.

Hmmm not sure if that link will work. Just found this lizard man belt buckel on eBay. Is it for real. Is that price the right range ?

If that link doesn't work the seller is statshipgames. And has tsr hobbies, lizardman, and belt buckel in item title.

Clearly, this is overpriced.

But I am curious as if that's a complete set of the folders in the background, or are there any more types?

Has one ever hit $1000 as the seller claims?  I don't remember it.  I'm wonder about rarity too.  The Ravenloft buckle seems the rarest to me.
