Glasgow may be terrible, but I travelled to San Francisco before covid hit and thought I was no longer in the US.  How such a beautiful city is now crumbling under a twisted utopia is beyond the pale.  I'm not sure it can turn itself around.  Progressive ideals have buried it under homelessness, fecal, and needles for the past 20 years.  Where are all the environmentalists when it rains in SF and all that street sewage drains directly into the bay?  ugh.

Well, if that’s the socialist utopia they all crave, whose to question it. I can only assume people love the smell of human shit frying in the summer sun. Like you point out. They’ve been building it for 20 years and they’re nearly there. I look at other socialist run cities, the ones that have never been conservative, and they all have the same thing in common. The love of criminals and the hatred for hard work. It’s important that people have a place where they can really feel like they are among their own kind.

Why are they not removing houses from people and giving them to the homeless?
Why are they not forcing restaurants and bars to employ employ them?

I can only assume they hate the homeless and just want to use them for political point scoring. It doesn’t seem much different to what Chicago does to their communities, only not based on race. The common theme seems to be places run by rich democrats.

Scotland has been socialist for more than three decades and drink and drugs are at epidemic levels. Public sector employees are not allowed to be sacked for being alcoholics or drug users, and have to be placed on long term sick pay and given counselling and rehab until they are capable of doing their jobs. In the capital we have back allies full of refuse which the public sector workers are not required to clean up, and rats walking around our streets ignoring people because there are so many of them that they do not fear humans.

That said, I once stood on a train platform in Dubai, and watched a cockroach the size of my thumb wander across the platform and crawl up a guys leg inside his trousers, and he didn’t seem to feel it. It would have been fun to see what happened when it got above his sock, but my train came.
