Deadlord wrote in Random Thoughts or OT Chit-Chat Thread:Ian, oil is sold on the global market. That is why the whole idea of producing more in the US was a joke, as was releasing oil from the reserves. Buyden thought it would make it look like the gubmint was doing something about the prices. This is all in line with forcing people off oil, which I am just fine with. Notice how for years the flat-earthers were whining about the "global warming myth", and they've quieted down quite a bit. Only a fool would think you can dump trillions of tons of gases and particulates into the air and not have an effect.Another never-mentioned aspect is brake pad dust and tire rubber. We burn through an insane amount annually; where do people THINK it all goes? The damage to the environment is staggering; I've been watching it for 42 years. Between oil and coal, we'll be in a huge pickle within a decade. Some of you might know I raise local endangered reptiles and amphibians, so I'm out in the sticks from April to October every year, and the changes are not even subtle anymore.

All the government has to do is make promises about cleaning up the environment, but then oops there's this war to prosecute, so we have to pause the reforms for the teensiest minute until we've vanquished all of freedom's foes.

We don't do these things to be nice, or because its the right thing to do. We do them because it is the cheapest option and provides the greatest return on investment.
