Average Home Heating Oil Prices and Heating Fuel Prices Dashboard - NYSERDA

My next oil bill will be $1,600 at these prices...  It will get real ugly this winter if something doesn't give because there will be a lot people who are not going to be able to handle bills like this.  I'm in the $6.51/gallon area.

These days, I can search for the word 'shortage' & find all manner of stories about this-or-that commodity. Things which used to be cheap and taken for granted are now in short supply: baby food, dog food, fertilizer, computer chips, all that s***. It's the end of globalization.

Re Texas shooting, a very similar thing happened 30 miles from me in ‘96. A guy walked into a primary school and shot 17 before turning the gun on himself. In those days we didn’t have armed response units, outside of big cities, but the reaction in the UK was to decide we were not going to have school shootings anymore, so we stopped having them. I think the Australians decided to do the same after something similar.

Now we have a major problem in the UK with our children cutting each other up. I mean like almost every day now. So it’s not like the problem goes away, but it’s preferable to monthly school shootings and somewhat more survivable.

Some of the police entered the school to retrieve their own children.
Others handcuffed and pepper sprayed mothers who wanted to save their own children.
A lot of cowardice that seems to go with the badge these days.

That is not systemic failure. That is deliberate action by law enforcement intended to ensure the children were not protected from the gunman.

Is it true this guy spent some $7K on top of the line rifles and red dot sights?
Rich kid slumming it at Wendy's? Or just media misdirection?

That said, if lived in a country with 1/2 billion guns in civilian hands, I’d own guns for self defence too.

That’s the problem though, isn’t it? The police said they didn’t go in because they were too scared they would get shot at, and ‘assumed’ the kids were dead anyways. Yet kids were begging the police to come and save them 40 minutes after the first shooting.

But the police were brave enough to get their own kids first. You can’t jail someone for protecting their own kids, and they have no obligation whatsoever to protect your kids. That’s your responsibility and what did you do to protect them? Turn up an whine and beg at the gate?

Instead of phoning 911, maybe those kids should have been phoning their parents asking, ‘why won’t you come and save me, Daddy?’
I can’t imagine choosing not to protect my child knowing there is a man with a gun in there trying to kill them.

It’s not like the whole worlds doesn’t know how to stop school shootings. It’s just that people would rather have a small amount of dead children every month, than decide to find a way to live a life without guns. So long as it’s other people’s children that die that is.

At least you don’t have vultures like Alex Jones feeding off the carcasses of the dead like he did with Sandy Hook. Or is he still doing that over there?

We've got our very own David Ike. The original and best world-is-run-by-lizard-men nut job. He doesn't talk about that much now, and everyone avoids asking him in interview, so I expect he doesn't allow anyone to embarrass him as a precondition to talking on camera about his current belief system. Too much watching V and taking magic mushrooms in his early years I suspect.
