aia wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:Pls have a look at this PotVQ: ** expired/removed eBay auction **Re to the NTRPGcon reprint, i know the digest size version... But i completely miss the letter size one... I am pretty sure only the digest size was sold by Badmike after the con... Is it possible that this is a PoD that is recently sold by Precis Intermedia?
mbassoc2003 wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:Can't be, because it has the words 'Reprinted by North Texas RPGCon' written in it and is watermarked throughout. Therefor, if it was not reprinted by NTRPGCon it's illegal, either completely illegal, or by dint of falsely stating that it was done by NTRPGCon. So NTRPGCon can confirm legitimacy, and is the only source than could challenge the legitimacy if it were a private PoD commission.Maybe its legit and the seller just f'd up the description?

wjaehnig wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:Yes, NTRPG did a letter sized reprint as well. The ebay listing says around 2010 which I don't think it true, the digest sized reprint may have been from around that time but the letter size was 2018 or 2019 I think. I'm sure Bad Mike has more details on print run but if I remember there weren't many copies and I had to take quick break from my Wednesday night game to go secure myself a copy.

Maybe it's someone else in a disguise to fool you, so when you accept them they'll pull off the disguise & everyone will start laughing. I used to see this clerk at a convenience store all the time, then one day I figured out that they had been replaced by a lizard wearing a disguise. It's not the kind of customer service I'd expect from a national chain. Fortunately we have a solution:

aia wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:Me neither... I bought mine new and it was not in shrink...
stratochamp wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:That's because it was NOT sold shrink wrapped. This would be an obvious auction to avoid at all costs; who knows what is inside that book, even if the price was much lower.

mbassoc2003 wrote in Interesting Items Currently on eBay:In the late 80's/early 90's I used to work for a major highstreet music label in the UK. We had the largest RPG section on the highstreet. We regularly shrinkwrapped everything that came it on the same shrinkwrap machine we used for shrinwrapping records. If a customer wanted to browse, and came to the desk to ask, we'd take off the shrinkwrap. If they bought, all well and good, if they didn't we'd stick it in a stack for shrinking again that night, and the last thing we did in the hour before closing was go through all the stock picking out the products that had 'lost' their shrinkwrap without the staff knowing. I think there were many stores that shrinkwrapped product to minimise casual browsing. Even today. A lot of second hand stuff at my local games store is shrinkwrapped. I have no way of knowing if any of it is legit, 1980's shrinkwrap, buy I know for sure a chunk isn't cost I sold a my collection to them and a lot of it is still there on the racks. So you have no way of knowing if its shrinkwrap from a vendor at publication date, or shrinkwrap from a second hand store that got a VGC copy in and wanted to preserve its condition for his potential buyer. Unless its authenticated (like you're buying a modern product from the publisher directly), or shrink wrapped on a TSR hanger, then shrinkwrap is a packing material no different to seran wrap (cling film) or bubble wrap for that matter. But at least its a genuine 1071, which means better print quality and crisper reading experience over the PoDs that seem so prevalent these days.
