Yes, I preferred seeing who won things too.  For those that want to know who won, there are a number of ways to figure it out.

1) Check if the seller has left feedback for the buyer.
2) Check if the buyer has left feedback for the seller.
3) If you bid and lost, you can search for your completed auctions and see who won.
4) If its a BIN and the buyer makes an offer that is accepted, then the buyer is public.

Two things I miss about that:

1.  Aneoth bidding on almost everything; and

2.  Being able to find things worth bidding on simply by stalking Aneoth on ebay.

Now I have to run through all of my 98 saved searches just to come up with a thing or two.

I just liked knowing if I had a chance in hell or not by looking at the other bidders. Now, I feel all cheap and have to snipe everything, and still manage to lose most the time (of course, it doesn't help I've not really looked at eBay for a while.)

Finally someone admits it... and in a public forum too!

Now I know!

YOU were one of the folks always doing that to me!

Seemed to me that Aneoth was one of the easiest search words for Fantasy E-Bay stuff for a long time.

I could NEVER simply sneak E-Bay bids in, and it went like that for years....

Yeah.....  I sorta miss those days too.

NOT!

Read the comments section of that article.  It's good to know that people who I have never spoken with nor have any knowledge of who they are or what they do ALL feel the same way I do.  Frustrated, bewilder and betrayed, all because Ebay took a giant sh*t on us all for absolutely no good reason.

I can't for the life of me understand why Ebay would take what it had over everyone else(the auction business) and effectively destroy in an effort to be like the competitors it was already beating handily in the marketplace.  To use a sports anolgy, it would be like last years Patriots team trading their entire roster right before the Super Bowl to acquire this years Lions team to play in the SB game and then not undestanding why it wasn't working like it did before.  :?

Edit to add: Here is another good article about Ebay and its issues:  http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2 ... -ebay.aspx

The second article's comments reflect exactly the same overwhelmingly negative sentiments about E-Bay from its customers.  It is unbelieveable that they are so deaf to what people want.

The amazing thing to me is that everytime they make more ridiculous changes, they always pass it all off as being "what their customers wanted" or "what YOU asked for".   The problem is that nowadays, everytime I read an article or a comments section or a message board about Ebay's changes, the response is almost always, at minimum, 25 to 1 overwhelmingly and passionately against the changes that they made.

So with that in mind, it really begs the question, just what customers are they talking about?  I wish I knew.  I think that their stock holders ought to know too, because the companies stock price is in the freaking tank now and it doesn't look to be getting much better anytime soon.

The seller has a crapload of "private" auctions, average at best DSRs, and some odd negs. I'd say a better than even chance the guy shills, especially as nothing he offered can't be found cheaper elsewhere online.

.......but in the guy's defense, I've been regularly selling the 1E books for $25 each with no problem.  I've actually sold out of most of the 1E books at that price lately, I'm thinking of raising it to $30 each for the PHB and MM.

I think we talked about this a few weeks ago. I have definately seen an increase in 1E hardcovers - especially the core three. If you look at that pic - those books look damn minty. Just do a search and you will also notice that the availability is diminishing greatly from just a couple years ago...

Something to watch...

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!
